St. George's Football Club, is a Maltese football club from the city of Cospicua in the Mediterranean island of Malta, believed to be the oldest club on the island. They are currently playing in the Maltese National Amateur League, and is popularly claimed to be the pioneers of Maltese civilian football.

The club was founded in 1943 after a merge of Valletta Prestons, Valletta St. Paul's and Valletta United, the latter being a two-time league winner before the Second World War.
Ħamrun Spartans Football Club is a Maltese professional football club based in Ħamrun. Since being founded in 1907, Ħamrun Spartans have won nine league championships while being runners-up eleven times.
The FA Trophy, currently known as the IZIBET FA Trophy for sponsorship reasons, is an annual football cup competition that takes place in Malta. The cup was founded in 1933; following a match between England and Italy, played in Rome in May 1933, to where a number of pro-British Maltese supporters travelled to support the English side. The Football Association as recognition donated a silver trophy to be played on the model of the FA Cup.

During the 2022–23 Maltese Challenge League campaign, Lija Athletic ended the first round in 11th place meaning they would play in the Play-Out section for the remainder of the season. It was until the Final Day of the season for Lija to save their status in the BOV Challenge League, beating Fgura 4-2 in a highly entertaining match.
Żabbar St. Patrick Football Club is a Maltese football club from the town of Żabbar, which currently plays in the Maltese Challenge League. The club was founded in 1912. They also play in the annual Maltese FA Trophy.
Melita Football Club is a Maltese football club that represents the town of St. Julian's. Melita was recently promoted to the Maltese top flight for the first time ever, only to be relegated again the following season. Attard Football Club is a Maltese football club from the small village of Attard in central Malta. They currently play in the Maltese Challenge League. The club was founded in 1974 and wears a red and black striped kit. The club are nicknamed Seracini.

Founded in 2006, the club took part for the first time in their history in the 2007/2008 season. Swieqi United Football Club is a Maltese football and futsal club representing the municipality of Swieqi. The club was created by a group of University Students and Swieqi residents. Founded in 2009, the club enjoys a good fan-base especially amongst young people on the island. The team plays in Orange shirts and use blue as the away kit. The club is renowned for giving young players the opportunity to play football and the club's symbol is the Owl – a reference to the students who founded Swieqi United F.C.
The Maltese football leagues system of association football is made up of a set of leagues organised and controlled by the Malta Football Association. Malta has had a top level football division since 1909; it continues on today with the current system.
The 2017–18 Maltese FA Trophy was the 80th version of the football tournament. It was sponsored by Boost Diesel, which was revealed during the draws of the first, second and third round of the Maltese FA Trophy at the Trophies Lounge in Malta Football Association headquarters in Ta' Qali. A total of sixty–four clubs participated in this season's cup competition.
The 2019–20 Maltese Premier League was the 105th season of the Maltese Premier League, the top-flight league football in Malta. The fixtures were announced on 2 July 2019; the season started on 23 August 2019 and was scheduled to conclude on 25 April 2020. Valletta were the defending champions, having won their 25th title the previous season.
The 2019–20 Maltese FA Trophy was the 82nd edition of the football cup competition.
