Kalpana 2 is a 2016 Indian Kannada-language horror comedy film directed by R. Anantha Raju and produced by Dr. Rajendra, Shilpa Srinivas and Swamee. [2] It is the second installment after Kalpana and is a remake of the Tamil film Kanchana 2 . [3] The film features Upendra, Priyamani and Avantika Shetty in the lead roles. [4] The film's musical score is by Arjun Janya. [5]

Plot

Cinematographer Raghav (Upendra) who is scared of ghosts and darkness ends up accompanying Nandini (Avantika Shetty), the girl he fancies, to shoot a reality show about a fake haunted house. As luck would have it, the house ends up being actually haunted and there's more than just adventure that awaits them.

Production

In August 2015, following the success of Upendra's venture Uppi 2 , he signed to appear in Kalpana 2 with Naganna directing and Shilpa Srinivas producing. [6] The film was initially planned to start production in September 2015. However the director walked out and R. Anantha Raju replaced him with Dr. Rajendra of Kalla Police fame agreeing to join the production team. The film officially began in November 2015 at the Bull Temple in Bangalore. [7] Actress Priyamani played the role essayed by Nithya Menen in the original version. Avantika Shetty of Rangi Taranga fame got her second assignment from Upendra to reprise the role originally played by Taapsee Pannu in the Tamil film. [8] During a shoot of a Kabbadi match for the film, Upendra sprained his ankle. [9]

Release

The film was dubbed and released in Telugu as Kalpana 3 (2017). [10]

Soundtrack

The film's score and soundtrack is composed by Arjun Janya. In April 2016, it was reported that actor Puneeth Rajkumar had lent his voice for a patriotic song penned by V. Nagendra Prasad and that would be the introductory song. [11]

It stars Upendra in a triple role as Surendra, Upendra and US 47 along with the Australian actress Felicity Mason as Manisha and Anant Nag. The film was shot entirely in Gold Coast, Australia with few supporting actors and a monkey named Lakshmi, voiced by Ramesh Bhat. The film was also dubbed into Telugu in 2003, retaining the same title.

Arjun Janya is an Indian film score soundtrack composer and singer. Arjun made his film debut in the 2006 Kannada film Autograph Please. Since then he has composed and scored music for successful films such as Birugaali (2009), Sanchari (2010), Kempegowda (2011), Varadanayaka (2012), Victory (2013), Vajrakaya (2015), Mukunda Murari (2016). His 100th film as music director is 99 (2019).

Mungarina Minchu is a 1997 Indian Kannada language romantic drama film directed by Rajendra Singh Babu starring Ramesh Arvind and Shilpa. The film is inspired from the 1942 Italian film Quattro passi fra le nuvole and its 1995 American remake A Walk in the Clouds. The music for the film was composed by V. Manohar. The film was considered one of the best movies by Rajendra Singh Babu.

Attahasa (transl. Defiance) is a 2013 Indian Kannada-language biographical film directed by A. M. R. Ramesh, based on the notorious forest brigand Veerappan. Kishore plays the role of Veerappan in the film, whilst featuring Arjun Sarja and Suresh Oberoi. After much delay in the theatrical release the film was opened to screens on 14 February 2013 all across the southern states of India to positive reviews. The film was partially reshot in Tamil as Vana Yuddham. The film was dubbed into Telugu as Veerappan.

Raj B. Shetty is an Indian actor, director, and screenwriter who works in Kannada film industry. He gained recognition through his directorial debut, Ondu Motteya Kathe (2017), which was a huge commercial success. He further cemented it with Gubbi Mele Brahmastra (2019), Mayabazar 2016 (2020), and Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana (2021), which got widespread acclaim and is now considered to be one of the best films of Kannada cinema.

Raju Kannada Medium is an Indian Kannada language romantic comedy film written and directed by Naresh Kumar. It features Gurunandan and Avantika Shetty in the lead roles. Achyuth Kumar, Suchendra Prasad, Sadhu Kokila and the Russian model Angelina Desedina play the supporting roles. Nam Areal Ond Dina is a 2010 Indian Kannada-language romantic drama film directed by Aravind Kaushik and starring Anish Tejeshwar, Meghana Gaonkar, and Rakshit Shetty. The film began production in 2008 and released two years later. This film marked the acting debut of Gaonkar and Shetty and the directorial debut of Aravind Kaushik. This film was supposed to be the debut film of Tejeshwar, but Police Quarters ended up releasing first. Mandya Ramesh, Kuri Prathap, and Ravi Teja were cast in supporting roles and a song pictured on Ramesh was included in the film.
