Sayed Kamaluddin Abdullah Zafree (born 5 March 1945) is an Islamic scholar from Bangladesh. [1] He is the chairman of the board of trustees of Bangladesh Islami University. [2]

Early life and education

Zafree was born on 5 March 1945 in Bhola, Bangladesh. He studied at Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board and then studied classical Arabic at Umm al-Qura University in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. [1]

Career

Zafree founded and served as the principal of Jamea Quasemia Madrsah. [3] [4]

He founded the Bangladesh Islami University in 2006 [5] and serves as the chairman of its governing body. [6] He is also the chairman of the Central Shariah Council for Islamic Insurance of Bangladesh. [7]

Zafree appears in ATN Bangla as an advisor in its Islamic programs section. [8]

Social activities

Zafree was involved in an awareness campaign against AIDS, funded by the United Nations Fund for Population Activities as part of its intervention program involving religious leaders. [9]

Views

In 2005, at a seminar of Islamic scholars in Dhaka, Zafree and others denounced terrorism in the name of Islam and endorsed the BNP-led government's fight against it. [4]

On Sky it at first had a timesharing deal with ATN Global, and then in 2005 began to broadcast for 24 hours, 7 days a week; it is currently available on Sky channel 777. The channel claims to be the "Voice of British Bangladeshis across the world", showing programmes suiting community needs. Its slogan is "Working for the community".

Bangladesh Islami University is a private university located at Gopibag, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Muhammad Abdul Haq Ansari was an Islamic scholar from India. He was the Amir (president) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) from 2003 to 2007. He was the member of Central Advisory Council of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. He was also the Chancellor of Al Jamia Al Islamia, Shantapuram, Kerala. His book Sufism and Shariah is a synthesis of Sufi and Shariah thought, especially a Tatbiq of Shaikh Ahmed Sir Hindi and Shah Waliullah's thought. It grew out of his in-depth engagement with kalam, tasawwuf and fiqh in Islamic history. His other major contributions are a book on Mishkawah's philosophy and an English translation of Ibn Taymiyyah's fatwas with an introduction. He also wrote 'Learning the Language of Quran' it is one of the best English guides for the beginners learning to read the Qur'an. In New Delhi he established the Islami Academy, aimed at training graduates from secular educational background in Islamic Sciences based on the madrasa curriculum.

Faḍl al-Ḥaqq ibn Wājid ad-Dīn al-Amīnī, or simply Fazlul Hoque Amini was an Islamic scholar and politician from Bangladesh. He served as an MP in the Parliament of Bangladesh from 2002 to 2007. He was an expert in the fields of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), hadith and tasawwuf. He also held a number of positions on the boards of qaumi madrasahs. He was also the principal of Jamia Qurania Arabia Lalbagh in Lalbagh, Dhaka, one of the largest Deobandi Islamic schools of Bangladesh.

Mohammad Abdur Rouf is a retired justice of the Bangladesh Supreme Court. He started as a practicing advocate and then became an additional judge of the High Court Division. He was then raised to Appellate Division of the court, and was later appointed as Chief Election Commissioner by the President of Bangladesh. He is currently a Shariah advisor to Fareast Islami Life Insurance Company Limited and Prime Islami Life Insurance. Rouf also serves as the president of the national children organization, Phulkuri Ashar.

Siddiqur Rahman Miah is a retired Justice of the High Court Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court and former President of Dhaka Stock Exchange. He is the chairman of the AB Bank's Shariah Supervisory Committee. He is a director of Dhaka Stock Exchange.
