Issake Dabore is a retired boxer from Niger who mainly fought in the light-welterweight and welterweight weight classes. Dabore competed at three Olympics; Tokyo 1964, Mexico City 1968 and Munich 1972. He was the first Nigerien person to compete at the Olympics and the first Nigerien to win an Olympic medal. Dabore won his Olympic medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics, where he won a bronze medal in the men's light-welterweight.
Roniel Iglesias Sotolongo is a Cuban amateur boxer, best known for winning the junior world title at lightweight in 2006, a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and a gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
Gambia took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, China from 8 to 24 August 2008. It was Gambia's seventh appearance in the summer Olympics since its debut in 1984. Among other achievements, Mostafa Mansour was the nation's first competitor in sprint canoeing while fencer Shaimaa El-Gammal became the first Egyptian female to appear in four editions of the Olympics.
George Kiprotich "Kip" Rono is a Kenyan former steeplechase runner. He won a gold medal in the event at the 1979 African Championships in Athletics and was the first African steeplechase winner at the 1979 IAAF World Cup.
Ndaba Dube is a former boxer who competed in the bantamweight division at the 1984 Summer Olympics and at the 1988 Summer Olympics.
Charles Owiso is a Kenyan former professional boxer who won the African lightweight title in 1999 and challenged for the African light welterweight title in 2001. As an amateur, he competed in the men's light welterweight event at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
The men's welterweight event was part of the boxing programme at the 1984 Summer Olympics. The weight class allowed boxers of up to 67 kilograms to compete. The competition was held from 29 July to 11 August 1984. 36 boxers from 36 nations competed.
