Karakulam Chandran is a Malayalam language drama, television serial, film actor and drama director from Kerala, India. He has directed 118 plays and acted in over fifty plays. He has also acted in 88 television serials and five movies. He has won more than eighty state level awards, including the state award for best drama director (in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 years), Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award for Best Drama Director (2008), the State Government's special jury award for best serial actor (2015) and the Ramu Karyat Award for outstanding contribution (2008). Biography

He was born on April 19, 1950, to Narayana Pillai and Vishalakshi Amma at Nellivila House, Karakulam, near Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram district.

At the age of four, he began his acting career as a child actor in a play in a rural library. After joining as a student in Prof. G. Sankara Pillai's drama school, he became active in the field of professional drama in 1968. [2] Vayala Vasudevan Pillai's Theerthadanam was his first professional play. [2]

He excelled in the field of theater under Thoppil Bhasi for more than a decade. [3] He worked for KPAC from 1970 to 1981 and formed the Ajanta drama troupe from Kollam in 1985. [2] Ajantha performed about twenty plays. He has directed 118 plays and acted in over fifty plays. He has also acted in 88 television serials and five malayalam movies. The last play he acted in was Ajantha's Aakashavilakku. [3]

He died on December 7, 2018, due to a heart attack.

Premji joined Yogakshema Sabha and worked with V. T. Bhattathiripad, E. M. S. Namboodiripad and his brother M. R. Bhattathiripad in the fight against the casteism and conservatism that existed in the Nambudiri community. Premji was also a noted stage and film actor who won the National Film Award for Best Actor for the film Piravi.

Kainikkara Kumara Pillai (1900–1988) was an Indian teacher, actor, short story writer, essayist and playwright of Malayalam literature, best known for his plays such as Harichandra, Mathruka Manushyan and Mohavum, Mukhtiyum. He was the younger brother of Kainikkara Padmanabha Pillai, a noted author and thinker. An author of 18 books, Kumara Pillai was awarded the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Drama in 1970. The Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi inducted him as a distinguished fellow in 1975 followed by the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in 1986.

Kalaikkal Kumaran was a noted Malayalam film and very popular drama actor. He was well known for his comedy roles in dramas by Kalidasa Kalakendram. He acted in 65 films and more than 150 dramas. He appeared more than 15000 stages. His first drama was Kathirukanakili by Kerala theatre of Ponkunnam Varkey. Other famous dramas are Doctor, Kathirukanakili, Althara, Muthuchippi, Kadalpalam, Swantham Lekhakan, Yudhabhoomi and Samgamam, more than 150 dramas. He received many Kerala state awards, including Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship for acting in 1989. Kumaran was a member of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. Kalaikkal Kumaran was supposed to create a record for appearing on more than 20,000 stages, but he lost his vision due to cataracts and left the field. C. L. Jose, in full Chakkalakal Lonappan Jose, is an Indian playwright of Malayalam literature. One of the pioneers of popular Malayalam theatre and a former chairman of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, Jose is the author of 36 plays, 75 one-act plays, one children's play and Ormakalkku Urakkamilla, his autobiography. He is a recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Drama, Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Overall Contributions, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Fellowship and S. Samkutty Pattomkary is an Indian theatre director, playwright, scenic and light designer, screenwriter, and poet from Kallara, Kottayam District, India. He completed his NDFA in painting from RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Thrippunithura, Kerala. Bachelor and Master in Theatre Arts from School Of Drama & Fine Arts, Thrissur, Kerala. He holds a Ph.D. in theatre arts from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He was formerly an Executive Member of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. In 2018 he received a State Award for his play Lalla by Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Government of Kerala. He is now settled in Thrissur.
