Karen Rollins Jackson is a former Virginia Secretary of Technology. Appointed in 2014 by Governor Terry McAuliffe, she was the last to serve in the office before it was dissolved under Governor Ralph Northam. [1] She previously served from 2009 to 2014 as Deputy Secretary of Technology under Governors Tim Kaine and Bob McDonnell. Jackson was born in Newport News, Virginia and was raised in Poquoson. She attended Christopher Newport University, graduating in 1987, and received a Master in Business Administration degree from the College of William & Mary. [2] [3] [4]

Following an assignment as a Director of the Transportation Policy Council in 2013 for then Governor-elect Terry McAuliffe’s transition team, Valentine was appointed as the Lynchburg District representative to the CTB in May 2014. During this time, she created the first Regional Connectivity Study in Virginia that correlated transportation decisions with workforce, business expansion and recruitment and investment, covering eight modes of transportation. Her legislative priorities focused on transportation, economic development, education, and ethics. She led bipartisan efforts to create transparent government, expand clean energy production, and invest in intercity passenger rail service for the first time in Virginia’s history. She is a member of the Democratic Party.

Pete Snyder

Pete Snyder is an American entrepreneur and marketing executive who is best known as the founder and former chief executive officer of New Media Strategies (NMS), a social media marketing agency that he started in 1999. Snyder stepped down as CEO of NMS in 2011 and founded the angel investment firm Disruptor Capital in 2012. Snyder unsuccessfully ran in the Republican Primary for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 2013. Snyder declined to run for the Republican nomination for governor in 2017, instead chairing the campaign of Ed Gillespie.

Natalie Tennant American politician

Natalie E. Tennant is an American politician who served as the Secretary of State of West Virginia from 2009 to 2017. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Tennant was the 2014 Democratic Party nominee for West Virginia's open U.S. Senate seat, which she lost to Republican Shelley Moore Capito. In 2016 she was defeated for re-election by Republican Mac Warner, and left office on January 16, 2017.

Debra Saunders-White was the eleventh chancellor of North Carolina Central University. She assumed office on June 1, 2013, and was the first woman to hold the permanent position of chancellor at NCCU. She was previously Deputy Assistant Secretary for Higher Education Programs at the U.S. Department of Education.

Mitch Carmichael American politician

Mitchell Carmichael is an American politician. He is a former Republican member of the West Virginia Senate representing District 4 from 2012 until his defeat in 2020. Prior to his service in the Senate, Carmichael served in the West Virginia House of Delegates representing District 12 from 2000 through 2012. Carmichael was also a candidate for Governor of West Virginia in the 2011 West Virginia gubernatorial special election. As President of the state Senate from January 2017 to January 2021, he held the title Lieutenant Governor of West Virginia. After his defeat in 2020, Governor Jim Justice appointed Carmichael as West Virginia's economic development director.

Richard Daryl "Ric" Brown is an American economist who served from 2008-2018 as the Virginia Secretary of Finance. He joined the Virginia Department of Planning and Budget in 1971 and was appointed as its director by Governor Jim Gilmore in 2001. He was reappointed in 2002 and 2006 and, in 2008, was made Secretary of Finance following Jody Wagner's departure to run for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia.

Aubrey Lee Layne, Jr. is an American businessman currently serving as the Virginia Secretary of Finance. He was previously appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe, to the Commonwealth Transportation Board for a five-year term and later served as Virginia Secretary of Transportation in McAuliffe's administration. Layne was subsequently appointed as Virginia Secretary of Finance by Governor-elect Ralph Northam.

Nancy Rodrigues is the Deputy Director of the 2019 Commemoration and former Virginia Secretary of Administration under Governor Terry McAuliffe. She was appointed to this position by Governor McAuliffe in December 2013, after nearly 30 years in public service and government.

Basil Gooden American politician

Basil Ivanhoe Gooden is an American politician who served as the 3rd Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry under Governor Terry McAuliffe. He became the first African-American to serve in this position and during his tenure from September 2016 until January 2018, he was the only black Secretary of Agriculture in any state in the United States. In his capacity as Secretary, he worked to support Governor McAuliffe's mission of building a new Virginia economy in agriculture and forestry, two of Virginia's largest private industries with an annual economic impact of $91 billion on the Commonwealth.

Molly Joseph Ward is a former Virginia Secretary of Natural Resources. She was appointed to this position by Governor Terry McAuliffe in 2014. Previously, she served as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at The White House and as Mayor of Hampton, Virginia from 2008 to 2013.

Dietra Trent

Dietra Yvette Trent had served as the Virginia Secretary of Education under Governor Terry McAuliffe. She previously served as Deputy Secretary of Education from 2006 to 2010 and again from 2014 to 2016 and was elevated after Anne Holton's resignation to campaign for her husband, Tim Kaine's vice presidential bid in 2016.

William Andrew Hazel, Jr. is the current Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources. He was first appointed in 2010 by Governor Bob McDonnell and was reappointed in 2014 by Governor Terry McAuliffe. He served previously as assistant orthopedic surgeon for the Washington Redskins and as team physician for D.C. United soccer club; he was also a member of the American Medical Association's Board of Trustees.

The Secretary of Technology is a former member of the Virginia Governor's Cabinet. The office was last held by Karen Jackson. The Secretary oversees the Virginia Information Technologies Agency and Virginia Center for Innovative Technology. It was absorbed into the Secretariat of Commerce and Trade in 2018 under Governor Ralph Northam.

James Donald Duffey, Jr. was the Virginia Secretary of Technology from 2010 to 2014, serving under Governor Bob McDonnell. He previously spent 24 years at Electronic Data Systems and was vice chairman of the Northern Virginia Technology Council.

Laura Worley Fornash is a former Virginia Secretary of Education, serving from 2011 to 2013 under Governor Bob McDonnell. Previously working as Virginia Tech's director of state government relations, she was appointed Deputy Secretary of Education in 2010 and was elevated to secretary upon the resignation of Gerard Robinson. She left in 2013 to take a position with the University of Virginia.

Bettina Kay Ring is the Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry of Governor Ralph Northam. She previously served as the Virginia State Forester in the administration of Governor Terry McAuliffe.
