Karin-gorfood (Karin-garfood, Karin-karfood) is a town in the Sool region of SSCKhatumo. [2]
According to the 2007 survey, Karin-gorfood has an integrated school with 90 students. However, this year was severely affected by the drought and the resulting displacement. [3]
In June 2008, the International Committee of the Red Cross donated rice, oil, and cowpeas to a poor district in the Sool region including Karin-gorfood. [4]
In September 2012, Minister of Education Puntland inspected the educational situation in Karin-gorfood and other cities. [5]
In June 2014, Khatumo State forces led by Ali Khalif Galaydh rest their troops in Karin-gorfood on their way from Taleh to Sahdheer, pursued bythe secessionist militia controling Northwestern parts of Somalia. [6]
In November 2017, a measles epidemic broke out in the Bo'ame district, and the epidemic was particularly prolonged in Karin-gorfood due to a lack of vaccine and other factors. [7]
In May 2020, a coordinator from the Somali-diidka Ministry of Health visited a number of towns in the Sool region, including Karin-gorfood. [8]
In January 2021, a conference for peace was held in Karin-gorfood. [9]
As of August 25th, 2023, SSC-Khatumo forces liberated the region from the secessionist militia and established local administrations. Citizens started celebrating the new dawn of being part of their own unionist admininistration in Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn States of Somalia.
Sool is an administrative region (gobol) in eastern Somaliland/north western Somalia. It borders Togdheer to the west, Sanaag to the north, Ethiopia to the south and Nugal, Bari to the east. Its capital city is Las Anod. The region is disputed by the self-declared Republic of Somaliland and SSC-Khatumo. The region is partially controlled by both polities.
Taleh is a historical town in the eastern Sool region of SSC Khaatumo. As of September 2015, both Khatumo and Somalia had nominal influence or control in Taleh and it's vicinity. The town served as the capital of the pre-independence Dervish movement.
Sarmaanyo is a town in the Sool region of Somalia/Somaliland. (Sometimes considered in the Sanaag region. ) The town is predominantly inhabited by people from the Somali ethnic group, with the Dhulbahante sub-clan of the Harti Darod especially well represented.
