Markus Esser is a retired German hammer throw. His personal best is 81.10 metres, achieved in July 2006 in Leverkusen. This ranks him eighth among German hammer throwers, behind Ralf Haber, Heinz Weis, Karsten Kobs, Günther Rodehau, Holger Klose, Christoph Sahner and Klaus Ploghaus.

François Antoine Brandt was a Dutch rower who competed at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris. Brandt was part of the Dutch eight team that won a bronze medal with Hermanus Brockmann as the coxswain. Brockmann also steered the boat of Brandt and Roelof Klein in the coxed pairs semifinal, which they lost to France. The pair realized that the 60 kg weight of Brockmann puts them in disadvantage; they replaced him with a local boy of 33 kg and won the final narrowly beating the French team.
Heinz Brandt was a German officer. During World War II he served as an aide to General Adolf Heusinger, the head of the operations unit of the General Staff. He may have inadvertently saved Adolf Hitler's life, at the cost of his own, by moving the bomb planted by Claus von Stauffenberg during the 20 July plot.
Wolfgang Gunkel was an East German rower who mostly competed in coxed pairs together with Jörg Lucke. In this event he won the European title in 1971, the Olympic gold medal in 1972, and the world title in 1975. His crew placed fourth at the 1968 Olympics. Gunkel won another world title in the men's eight in 1977. In February 1978, he was given the sports awards Honoured Master of Sports.
Werner Klatt was a German rower who competed for East Germany in the 1976 Summer Olympics. He was born in Schöneberg. In 1976, he was a crew member of the East German boat, which won the gold medal in the eight event.
Max Adolf Karsten Meyer was a German competitive sailor and Olympic medalist. He won a bronze medal in the Star class at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, together with Wilhelm Kuhweide.

Axel May (born 13 August 1948 is a sailor from the West-Germany, who represented his country at three Olympic Games. The first time was the 1968 Summer Olympics in Acapulco, Mexico as crew member in the 5.5 Metre. With helmsman Klaus Oldendorff and fellow crew member Peter Stülcken they took the 7th place. The second appearance was the 1976 Summer Olympics in Kingston, Ontario, Canada as crew member in the Soling. With helmsman Willi Kuhweide and fellow crew member Karsten Meyer they took the 5th place. His final Olympics were the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, United States as crew member in the Soling. With helmsman Willi Kuhweide and fellow crew member Eckard Löll they took the 8th place.
