Wanda Garner Cash is an author and the event director of the Texas Arts &Crafts Fair at the Hill Country Arts Foundation in Ingram,Texas Cash retired in 2016 as associate director of the School of Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. During her long journalism career,Cash was an advocate for open government,speaker,commentator,expert witness and media adviser on open government issues to former Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott. George Albert McElroy was an American journalist. Born in Houston,Texas,he served in the United States Armed Forces before pursuing a career in journalism. Among many "firsts" achieved by McElroy,he became the first African American to earn a master's degree in journalism from the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri.
The history of East Texas State University (ETSU) comprises the history of the university now known as Texas A&M University–Commerce from its renaming as East Texas State University in 1965 to its admission into the Texas A&M University System and renaming as Texas A&M University–Commerce in 1996. During this era,ETSU was led by five different presidents:James Gilliam Gee,D. Whitney Halladay,F. H. "Bub" McDowell,Charles J. Austin,and Jerry Morris. The ETSU period witnessed substantial swings in student enrollment,which grew from 8,890 in 1968 to 9,981 in 1975 before falling to 6,867 in 1985 and partially recovering to 8,000 in 1992. The university's physical plant expanded steadily throughout the period,from 87 buildings on 150 acres (61 ha) valued at $19 million in 1965 to a campus spanning 1,883 acres (762 ha) worth approximately $150 million by the 1990s.

Margaret Katherine "Kathy" Banks is an American academic,engineer,and was the 26th president of Texas A&M University from 2021 to 2023,only the second woman to hold that position out of 41 total presidents at the time,including her interim successor.
The University of Austin (UATX) is a private nonsectarian liberal arts university located in Austin,Texas. In October 2023,the university received its certification to operate as a degree-granting university from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The university has established a campus in downtown Austin's Scarbrough Building,and is scheduled to enroll its first undergraduate cohort in the fall of 2024.
