T. Krishnan, popularly known as Kavithalayaa Krishnan, is an Indian actor known for playing supporting roles in Tamil film and television. [1] He is a regular artist in many K. Balachander's films and television serials produced by Kavithalayaa Productions and Kavithalayaa got along as his name.

Career

Kavithalayaa Krishnan has acted in over 120 films, 60 television serials and made over 2500 stage appearances. He was awarded Kalaimamani (2005) by Government of Tamil Nadu. [2] He started acting in stage plays along with Crazy Mohan who was his classmate when he did his engineering at College of Engineering, Guindy. He made his film debut in Poikkal Kudhirai (1983), a remake of Crazy Mohan's play Marriage made in Saloon directed by K. Balachander. [3]

Kamal Haasan appeared in a guest role. Poikkal Kudhirai was based on Crazy Mohan's play Marriage Made in Saloon. The film was an average success. The film was remade in Kannada as Mavanige Thakka Aliya (1992).

Mohan Rangachari known professionally as Crazy Mohan, was an Indian actor, comedian, screenwriter and playwright. An engineer by profession, Mohan started writing plays and established his own drama troupe called "Crazy Creations" in 1979. In addition to dramas and tele-serials, Mohan worked as a dialogue writer on a number of comedy films. Mohan had written over 30 plays, worked on over 40 films, having cameo roles in each film, and written 100 short stories. The Tamil Nadu state government in the year 2004, awarded him the Kalaimamani title for excellence in the field of arts and literature.

The film stars Vikram, Simran, Dhruv Vikram, Bobby Simha, while Sananth, Vettai Muthukumar, Deepak Paramesh and Aadukalam Naren in supporting roles. In the film, Gandhi Mahaan, a commerce teacher is abandoned by his family, where he lives as the former turns into a liquor baron and lives a life of his own, but his son Dadabhai Naoroiji, an extremist Gandhian vows revenge on his father who violated Gandhian principles and abandoned his family.

Poikkal Kuthirai is an 2022 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Santhosh P. Jayakumar. It stars Prabhu Deva in the title role with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Raiza Wilson, Prakash Raj, Baby Aazhiya, and John Kokken in other roles with Shaam in a cameo appearance. The film has its music composed by D. Imman, while the cinematography and editing of the film is handled by Ballu and Preethi Mohan respectively. The title of the film was announced on 4 August 2021.

As of 2023, the company has produced 16 feature films, including productions made in the Tamil and Malayalam film industries. It has collaborated and been produced with filmmakers including Rathna Kumar, Karthik Subbaraj, Ponram, Ashok Veerappan and Malayalam film director Jithin Issac Thomas. The production company made its debut with the film Bench Talkies. Stone Bench also produced more than five original content for the streaming services Netflix, Amazon Prime, ZEE5, Disney+ Hotstar and SonyLIV. Stone Bench also presents other language films in Tamil Nadu, including 777 Charlie.
