Keely Shaw (born July 18, 1994) is a Canadian track cyclist. She represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Paralympics and won a bronze medal in the individual pursuit C4 event. [1] [2]
She graduated from University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology. She then went on to complete a master's degree at the University of Saskatchewan in the area of exercise physiology and sport nutrition with a thesis titled "The Effect of Dark Chocolate on Metabolism and Performance in Trained Cyclists at Simulated Altitude". [3] She continued her education with a Ph.D. in exercise physiology and sport nutrition with a special focus on sport nutrition for special populations, namely female, master's, and Paralympic athletes.
Keely began her cycling career in 2017 and made a quick jump to the National team, earning a 5th place in the Individual pursuit in the women's C4 category at Paracycling Track World Championships in 2018 before earning her first World Championship podium in 2019 at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships. [4] [5] In 2021 Keely made her Paralympics debut, where she won a bronze medal in the Women's C4 individual time trial with a time of 3:48.342 [6]
Catherine Mary Walsh is a visually impaired athlete from Ireland. She has competed internationally in both athletics and cycling, winning Paralympic medals in both.
Dame Sarah Joanne Storey, is a British Paralympic athlete in cycling and swimming, and a multiple gold medalist in the Paralympic Games, and six times British (able-bodied) national track champion. Her total of 28 Paralympic medals including 17 gold medals makes her the most successful and most decorated British Paralympian of all time as well as one of the most decorated Paralympic athletes of all time. She has the unique distinction of winning five gold medals in Paralympics before turning 19.
Colette Bourgonje (ber-gon-yah) is a Canadian Paralympic cross-country skier and athlete of Métis heritage. She has won four bronze medals in Summer Paralympics and medals in Winter Paralympics for skiing.
Janet Lucy Shaw was a visually-impaired Australian tandem cyclist and author. She became visually impaired due to congenital retinoblastoma and lost her sight completely at the age of 33. She first represented Australia in cycling at the 2002 IPC World Cycling Championships. She broke several world records with her pilot, Kelly McCombie.; they won two bronze medals at the 2004 Athens Paralympics. In 2008, Shaw was re-diagnosed with cancer; she died of the disease in 2012. She wrote two memoirs and several books for children and young adults.
David Nicholas, is an Australian cyclist. He won silver and gold medals at the 2012 London Paralympics and a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
Susan "Sue" Powell, is an Australian cyclist. At the 2012 London Paralympics, she won a gold medal in the Women's Individual Pursuit C4, setting a new world record in the process, and a silver medal in the Women's Individual Pursuit C4. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, Powell won the silver medal in the 3 km Women's Individual Pursuit C4.
Alexandra Lisney is an Australian rower and cyclist. She won a bronze medal in the Women's Individual Pursuit C4 at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. She represented Australian at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
Crystal Lane-Wright is a British Paralympic track and road cyclist competing in C5 events. A bronze medallist in the Road World Championships in 2011, she competed for Great Britain team at the 2012 Summer Paralympics and 2016 Summer Paralympics. At the 2016 Games in Rio she took silver medal in the individual pursuit and bronze in the road race. In 2018, she won the individual pursuit at the Rio de Janeiro Track World Championships. The same year she also took silver in individual time trial and bronze in the road race in the Road World Championships held in Maniago.
Helen Sarah Scott, is an English sprint cyclist. As well as competing as part of the Great Britain team Scott is also an able-bodied tandem cyclist, who since 2011 has acted as pilot for Paralympian Aileen McGlynn, Sophie Thornhill and Alison Patrick.
Heather Logan-Sprenger is a retired professional road cyclist from Canada. She represented her nation at the 2009 UCI Road World Championships and the 2011 and 2012 Pan American Road and Track Championship. She competed in the US National Racing Calendar and the UCI's Women's World Tour race series from 2009-2013. In 2011 she won Stage 2 of the Tour of Gila and 3rd in Stage 3. She was the overall winner of the Green Sprint jersey for the 2011 Tour of Gila, NRC race in New Mexico. She also had many top 10 finishes in stages/races across the USA NRC calendar.
Lora Marie Fachie, is a visually impaired English racing cyclist who competes in para-cycling tandem road and track events. She is a double world champion, with pilot Corrine Hall, in the tandem road race and 1 km time trial events.
Meg Lemon is an Australian Paralympic cyclist. She represented Australia at the 2020 Summer Paralympics where she won a bronze medal.
Paige Greco is an Australian Paralympic cyclist who won gold medals at the 2019 World Track Championships in C1-3 women's pursuit 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. She broke the World Record setting a new one of 3:52.283 in the 3000m individual pursuit at the Tokyo Paralympics.
Emily Petricola is an Australian Paralympic cyclist. She is a world record holder and gold medallist at the 2019 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.
James Brown is a former Northern Irish paralympic-cyclist, who competed for Great Britain, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. He is visually impaired and participated in five Paralympic Games in various sports. Brown earned two gold medals at the 1984 Summer Paralympics in athletics and a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in the men's road time trial with sighted pilot Damien Shaw.
Samantha Bosco is an American Paralympic athlete. She competed in Cycling at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, winning two bronze medals.
Julie Cournoyer is a Canadian visually impaired former para-cyclist who competed in the Paralympic Games and the IPC Cycling World Championships. She won two gold medals at the 1996 Summer Paralympics in Atlanta, United States and won a silver and bronze medal at each of the former multi-sport event and at the 2000 Summer Paralympics in Sydney, Australia, Cournoyer won a single silver and bronze medal each at the 1998 IPC Cycling World Championships in Colorado Springs, United States. She had Guylaine Larouche, Alexandre Cloutier and Christophe Cheseaux as guides throughout her career.
