"Keep It Real" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Miilkbone, released as the first single from his debut studio album Da' Miilkrate in 1995. The song reached the Billboard charts[ which? ] and received praise from The Source magazine.[ citation needed ] It is widely hailed as a classic song and is recognized for its unique piano sample which has been most famously used by rappers Big L and Jay Z on their legendary freestyle on the Stretch & Bobbito Show in 1995. Rapper Logic also used the beat for his song Young Sinatra III on his 2012 mixtape Young Sinatra: Undeniable.[ citation needed ]

"Hit 'Em Up" is a diss song by hip hop artist 2Pac featuring The Outlawz, a group associated with him. It is the B-side to the single "How Do U Want It", released on June 4, 1996. The song's lyrics contain vicious insults to several East Coast rappers, chief among them, Shakur's former-friend-turned-rival, Christopher Wallace, also known as Biggie Smalls. The song was recorded at Can Am Studios in May 1996. Reporter Chuck Philips, who interviewed Shakur at Can Am, described the song as caustic anti-East Coast crusade in which the rapper threatens to eliminate Biggie, Sean Combs (Puffy), and a slew of Bad Boy artists and other New York acts." The song was produced by long-time collaborator Johnny "J" and uses the bassline from "Don't Look Any Further" by Dennis Edwards and interpolates 10% Dis by MC Lyte, and "Get Money" by Biggie's group Junior M.A.F.I.A. The video, itself described as infamous, includes impersonations of Biggie, Puffy and M.A.F.I.A. member Lil' Kim.

It was released on November 27, 1992 by JMJ Records, Rush Associated Labels and Chaos Recordings. Produced by Chylow Parker, "Throw Ya Gunz" was a success and made it to four Billboard charts, including #1 on the Hot Rap Singles for two weeks. The song achieved even greater success in the UK, where it peaked at #34 on the UK Top 40 in 1993.

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... is the debut studio album by American rapper and Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon, released on August 1, 1995, by Loud Records and RCA Records. The album was loosely composed to play like a film with Raekwon as the "star," fellow Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah as the "guest-star," and producer RZA as the "director." It features appearances from every member of the Wu-Tang Clan except for Ol' Dirty Bastard. The album also features debut appearances for affiliates Cappadonna and Blue Raspberry. It also features an acclaimed guest appearance from rapper Nas, which marked the first collaboration with a non-affiliated artist on a Wu-Tang related album.
