Kenneth B. Ferguson is an American politician serving as a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives from the 16th district. Elected in November 2014,he assumed office on January 12,2015.
Ferguson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social science from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in 1973. [1]
Ferguson began his career working for the city of Pine Bluff,Arkansas. He also served as executive director of the Arkansas Workforce Board and investment director of the Arkansas Workforce Development Board. [2] [3] In 2021,Ferguson was awarded the Distinguished Legislative Award by the Arkansas Municipal League. [4]
Lincoln County is located between the Arkansas Timberlands and Arkansas Delta in the U.S. state of Arkansas. It is also within the Pine Bluff metro area,and on the outer edge of the Central Arkansas region. The county is named for President Abraham Lincoln. Created as Arkansas's 65th county on March 28,1871,Lincoln County has three incorporated cities,including Star City,the county seat and most populous city. He was a member of the prominent Breckinridge family,the son of Vice President of the United States and Confederate General John C. Breckinridge and the great-grandson of U.S. Senator and Attorney General of the United States John Breckinridge.
John Middleton Clayton was an American politician who served as a Republican member of the Arkansas House of Representatives for Jefferson County from 1871 to 1873 and the Arkansas State Senate for Jefferson County. In 1888,he ran for a seat in the United States House of Representatives but lost to Clifton R. Breckinridge. Clayton challenged the results and was assassinated in 1889 during the challenge to the election. He was declared the winner of the election posthumously. The identity of his assassin remains unknown.

The 1996 United States Senate election in Arkansas was held on November 5,1996. Incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator David Pryor decided to retire. Republican Tim Hutchinson won the open seat,becoming the first Republican to win a U.S. Senate seat in Arkansas since Reconstruction in 1872 and the first to ever be popularly elected in the state. He was the first to win this seat since 1870. Hutchinson lost re-election in 2002 to David Pryor's son Mark Pryor.
Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) is a public community college in Pine Bluff,Arkansas. Formerly a vocational-technical school,the state legislature designated the school as a college in 1991 with the name Pines Technical College. It acquired its current name in 1998.
Dollarway High School was a comprehensive public high school in northwest Pine Bluff,Arkansas that served grades 9 through 12. It was one of three public high schools in Pine Bluff and was a part of the Pine Bluff School District effective July 1,2021. Prior to that point it was the only high school managed by the Dollarway School District. Within the state,the school is often referred to as Pine Bluff Dollarway. It closed as of fall 2023.
