Kendall Diane Morris, (born February 21, 1991) is a news anchor and an American beauty pageant titleholder from Ennis, Texas who was named Miss Texas 2011. [2] [3]

Biography

She won the title of Miss Texas on July 1, 2011, when she received her crown from outgoing titleholder Ashley Melnick. Morris was Overall Interview Winner at Miss Texas 2011. Morris was Preliminary Swimsuit winner at the Miss America 2012 pageant as well as the Louanne Gamba (Lulu) Instrumental Award recipient. Morris' platform is “Leukemia: Living for a Cure” and she said she hoped to promote funding for research to find a cure for Leukemia during her reign as Miss Texas. [4] Morris majored in broadcast journalism at Texas Christian University and graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors in journalism. Morris' win was the second consecutive time a Texas Christian University student won the Miss Texas title, as Ashley Melnick, Miss Texas 2010, also attended Texas Christian University. Morris is a baton twirler with the TCU Marching Band, and she performed at the 2011 Rose Bowl and the 2010 Fiesta Bowl. [5] At the age of 15, Morris won the title of Miss Texas' Outstanding Teen in 2006, and went on to compete in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant in 2007, where she won multiple preliminary awards. Morris joined the staff at WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2014 as a reporter and was named an anchor in January 2016. She currently works for NBC Charlotte.

Miss Americas Outstanding Teen 2007

Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2007 was the 2nd Miss America's Outstanding Teen pageant held at the Linda Chapin Theater in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida on August 19, 2006. At the conclusion of the event, Meghan Miller of Texas crowned her successor Maria DeSantis of New York. The pageant was hosted by Miss America 2006 Jennifer Berry and N'SYNC singer Joey Fatone.

Miss America 2019

The Miss America 2019 pageant was the 92nd Miss America pageant, though the Miss America Organization celebrated its 98th anniversary in 2018. This discrepancy is due to national pageants not being held from 1928–1932 or in 1934 because of financial problems associated with the Great Depression. The 2019 pageant was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. On May 23, 2018, it was announced that the pageant would air live on ABC on Sunday, September 9, 2018. This was the last Miss America to be aired on ABC before would be moving to NBC beginning from 2020 pageant.
