Richard Andrew Pitino is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach for Iona College. He is also the head coach of Greece's senior national team. He has been the head coach of several teams in NCAA Division I and in the NBA, including Boston University (1978–1983), Providence College (1985–1987), the New York Knicks (1987–1989), the University of Kentucky (1989–1997), the Boston Celtics (1997–2001), the University of Louisville (2001–2017), and Panathinaikos of the Greek Basket League and EuroLeague (2018–2020).

Michael Walter Cronin is an American men's college basketball coach who is the head coach of the UCLA Bruins of the Pac-12 Conference. Cronin was named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year in his first season with the Bruins in 2019–20. He arrived at UCLA having previously served as the head coach for the Cincinnati Bearcats for 13 seasons. Cronin had been named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Coach of the Year in 2014 and guided Cincinnati's program to nine straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Prior to joining Cincinnati in 2006, he coached the Murray State Racers from 2003 to 2006.
Kevin Willard is an American college basketball coach and the current head men's basketball coach at Seton Hall University. Willard played basketball at Western Kentucky during the 1992–93 season before transferring to Pittsburgh to finish his playing career.

After attending St. Sebastian's School in Needham, Massachusetts, Richard Pitino earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history at Providence College in 2005. During his time at Providence, Pitino was the manager for the Friars men's basketball team under Tim Welsh. For two years, he also served as an assistant basketball coach for Saint Andrew's School in nearby Barrington, Rhode Island.
David Christopher Padgett is an American basketball coach who served as the interim head coach for the Louisville Cardinals for the 2017-18 season. As a college basketball player, he had played for the Kansas Jayhawks before transferring and finishing his career at Louisville.
Billy Hahn is an American former basketball coach who was most recently an assistant coach for the West Virginia Mountaineers under head coach Bob Huggins. In the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), a show-cause penalty is an administrative punishment ordering that any NCAA penalties imposed on a coach found to have committed major rules violations will stay in effect against that coach for a specified period of time—and could also be transferred to any other NCAA-member school that hires the coach while the sanctions are still in effect. Both the school and coach are required to send letters to the NCAA agreeing to abide by any restrictions imposed. They must also report back to the NCAA every six months until either the end of the coach's employment or the show-cause penalty. If the school wishes to avoid the NCAA penalties imposed on that coach, it must send representatives to appear before the NCAA's Committee on Infractions and "show cause" as to why it should not be penalized for hiring that coach. The penalty is intended to prevent a coach from escaping punishment for violations that he/she had a role in committing or allowing—which are generally applied to the school --by merely resigning and taking a coaching job at another, unpenalized school. It is currently the most severe penalty that can be brought against an American collegiate coach.
Delray Brooks is an American basketball coach and former basketball player. Brooks was an Indiana high school basketball star who was named both 1984 Co-Indiana Mr. Basketball and 1984 USA Today Player of the Year. After high school, he first attended Indiana University to play basketball for Bobby Knight. When he didn't fit into the team plans as he had hoped he transferred to play for Rick Pitino at Providence College, where the team was one of the most successful in school history. As a professional player, his career floundered in various leagues before he began coaching basketball as an assistant for Pitino at the University of Kentucky. He reached the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship final four as both a player and assistant coach. When Pitino left for the NBA, he moved on to a head coaching position at the University of Texas-Pan American. He was eventually caught up in a scandal and fired. He has since coached various high school teams. As of 20 May 2015, he is the head coach for the men's basketball team at Clay High School.
The 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season began on November 10, 2017. The first tournament was the 2K Sports Classic and the season ended with the Final Four in San Antonio on April 2, 2018. Practices officially began on September 29, 2017.
The 2015 University of Louisville basketball sex scandal involved National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules violations committed by the University of Louisville men's basketball program. The scandal centered around improper benefits given by former Director of Basketball Operations and Louisville player Andre McGee to prospective players and former Louisville players.
Brian Bowen II is an American professional basketball player for the Iowa Wolves of the NBA G League. He originally committed to play college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals but was suspended by the team after a national college basketball corruption scandal which alleged that his family accepted payments in exchange for him choosing to attend Louisville. He later tried to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks, but due to an NCAA ruling, he removed himself from college and the 2018 NBA Draft altogether. Nicknamed "Tugs", he was named a McDonald's All-American as a senior in high school in 2017.
The 2017–18 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team represented the University of Louisville during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team played its home games on Denny Crum Court at the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville, Kentucky as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They were led by interim head coach David Padgett after former head coach Rick Pitino was fired due to an FBI investigation into the school. They finished the season 22–14 overall, and 9–9 in ACC conference play, finishing in a tie for 8th with Florida State, who they defeated in the second round of the ACC Tournament before losing to Virginia in the quarterfinals. They received an invitation to the NIT, where they defeated Northern Kentucky in the first round and Middle Tennessee in the second round before being defeated in the quarterfinals by Mississippi State.
The 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball corruption scandal is an ongoing corruption scandal, initially involving sportswear manufacturer Adidas as well as several college basketball programs associated with the brand but now involving many programs not affiliated with Adidas.
The 2021–22 Big Ten men's basketball season is the season for Big Ten Conference basketball teams that began with practices in October 2021, followed by the start of the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November 2021. The regular season will end in March 2022.
