Kent Osborne aka Ken Osborne is a film director and occasional actor. The films he has directed have mainly been exploitation types. His films include Wild Wheels in 1969, Cain's Cutthroats in 1971, The Ballad of Billie Blue in 1972, Women Unchained in 1974 and Hollywood Confidential in 2008.

Career (director)

1960s

His earliest directorial work includes Raw Love which was released in 1965. It featured Suzanne Anderson and Mike Perry. [1] Osborne both directed the 1996 biker exploitation flick Wild Wheels as well as co-writing the story. The film starred Don Epperson, Robert Dix, Casey Kasem, Terry Stafford, and Dovie Beams who would later find notoriety for her affair with President Ferdinand Marcos. [2] [3] During the filming of Wild Wheels, Osborne was shooting a segment with a foreground and background scene. He told the men in the background that he wanted some fighting but he forgot to tell them it was only supposed to be faked. Some of it got carried away and Osborne was yelling at them to stop it and repeatedly to cut. [4]

1970s to 1980s

He found a good degree of success with Cain's Cutthroats aka The Blood Seekers, a sleazy violent vengeance western that was set in the civil war era, which starred John Carradine, Scott Brady, Robert Dix, Darwin Joston, and Adair Jameson. [5] [6] Osborne directed and co-wrote the story for The Ballad of Billie Blue , a Christian-themed film with a warning message which was about a country singer who ends up in jail then finds stardom with gospel music. [7] [8] The film premiered in Grand Rapids, Michigan in February, 1972, [9] also opened Thursday April 20, 1972 at the Holland Theatre and was showing for a week. It was nominated for two Image Awards. [10] Women Unchained , which he directed was a story about five women who during a riot, try to escape from a maximum security prison and while on the run will do what it takes to get to the Mexican border. 1990s to 2000s

In 2008, Hollywood Confidential was released. It starred Vernon Wells, Joe Estevez, James MacPherson, and Jesse Hlubik.

Career (actor)

His earliest acting roles included Dragnet in 1954, Good Morning, Miss Dove and The View from Pompey's Head . [13] He played the bartender in the 1969 horror film Nightmare in Wax , a Bud Townsend directed film which starred Cameron Mitchell, Scott Brady and Anne Helm. [14] Osborne played the part of Dave Miller in the Al Adamson directed Five Bloody Graves , which was released around 1969, 1970. [15] He played the part of Sergeant Osborne in the Ewing Miles Brown film The Stoneman which was released around 2002. The film starred Christopher Atkins, Pat Morita and Robin Riker. [16] [17]

He passed away at his West Hollywood, California home on February 20, 2024 at age 97 of natural causes.

Blood of Dracula's Castle is a 1969 American horror cult B-movie directed by Al Adamson and starring John Carradine, Alexander D'Arcy, Paula Raymond, Robert Dix, Vicki Volante, and John Cardos. It was released by exploitation film specialists Crown International Pictures. Although his name was played up in the lurid ad campaign, John Carradine only played George the butler in this film, and not Count Dracula. DVD prints all suffer from extensive emulsion scratches.

<i>Soul Soldier</i> 1970 film by John Cardos

Soul Soldier is a 1970 American blaxploitation Western film. The film was initially produced by Hirschman-Northern Productions under the working title Men of the Tenth. After it was filmed on 16 mm film and released under the title The Red, White, and Black, producer Stuart Hirschman asked John Cardos to salvage the film, and Cardos, after looking at the existing footage, insisted that the entire film needed to be reshot in 35mm film. Cardos directed the reshoot, which was entirely shot on an Arriflex 35 IIC. Richard Dix's son Robert Dix appears in the film as a Native American warrior. Isabel Sanford portrays the character Isabel Taylor. Janee Michelle and Robert DoQui share nude sex scenes in the film. Rafer Johnson, who had won medals as a decathlete at the Olympic Games, starred in the film and intended to use all the money he earned from acting in the film to start his own film company. The financial success of the film led to the production of several other films in the genre. When the film was released on home video, it was renamed Buffalo Soldier.

Randee Lynn Jensen, born April 28, 1949 is an actress from San Bernardino, California. During the 1960s she acted in films such as The Pit and the Pendulum and The Gay Deceivers. From the late 1960s to the early 1970s, she had a number of parts in exploitation and biker films. She had appeared in over ten films in the biker genre alone. These include The Glory Stompers, The Cycle Savages and The Girls from Thunder Strip. She has also worked in film production, casting and other behind the scenes roles. Prior to her main work in film she had done stage work.

Jennifer Bishop aka Jenifer Bishop is an American film and television actress who was active from the early 1960s through to the 1970s. She was a regular on the television series Hee Haw. She had various roles in film that include Blood of Dracula's Castle in 1969, The Female Bunch in 1969, Impulse in 1974, and Mako: The Jaws of Death in 1976.

The Ballad of Billie Blue (Jailbreakin') is a Christian-themed film that stars Jason Ledger, Renny Roker, Ray Danton, and Sherry Bain. It also features Erik Estrada. A country singer who has a problem with alcohol is sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit.

Sherry Bain, was an actress from Los Angeles, California. She started her career in some exploitation films. She co-starred with Robert Fuller in The Hard Ride in 1971, Wild Riders in 1971, The Ballad of Billie Blue in 1972, an episode of Bearcats!, Pipe Dreams in 1976, Poco... Little Dog Lost in 1977, and Wild and Wooly in 1978. By the early 1970s, her career was moving and she was on the verge of major stardom.
