Ketan Anand is an Indian film director. He is son of filmmaker Chetan Anand and actress Uma Anand. He is the cousin of director Shekhar Kapur.
He has directed the movies Toote Khilone and Shart and was the associate producer of Heer Raanjha .
In early years of his life, Ketan and his brother Vivek Anand were featured in a song alongside Dev Anand and Sheila Ramani from the movie Funtoosh . [1] Watching his father make films, Ketan decided to forgo Administration as his major and concentrated on theater. He graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. In 2007, he co-authored the book Chetan Anand: The Poetics of Film with his mother. [2]
In 2008, Ketan Anand was all set to revive his father, Chetan Anand's film banner Himalaya Films with a psychological love story titled Petrol Pump. This movie was written some 30–40 years ago by his father who had wanted to direct the film himself with Raaj Kumar and Rajesh Khanna in the lead. The script was his last gift to his son when he died. [3]
He, along with his brother Vivek Anand and two employees, were convicted of murdering the actress Priya Rajvansh in 2000 and was sentenced to life imprisonment in July 2002. [4] They were granted bail in November 2002 and got away with the murder.[ citation needed ]

Haqeeqat is a 1964 Indian Hindi-language war-drama film written, directed and produced by Chetan Anand. The film stars Dharmendra, Balraj Sahni, Priya Rajvansh, Sudhir, Sanjay Khan and Vijay Anand in major roles. The music of the film is composed by Madan Mohan and the lyrics of the songs are by Kaifi Azmi. The film is based on the events of the 1962 Sino-Indian War about a small platoon of soldiers in Ladakh pitched against a much larger adversary. The film was constructed around the battle of Rezang La in Ladakh and showcases a fictionalised version of the last stand of Ahir Company, 13 Kumaon led by Major Shaitan Singh. However the film is not only a representation of war, but a dramatic retelling of the impact war has on the common soldier. Chetan Anand dedicated the film to Jawaharlal Nehru and the soldiers in Ladakh. The film is widely considered one of India's greatest black and white war-films.
Virumbugiren is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by Susi Ganeshan. The film stars Prashanth and Sneha, while Eswari Rao played a pivotal role which fetched her Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Character Artiste (Female) and Nassar, Livingston and Sriman portrayed supporting roles. Deva composed the film's music while K. V. Anand handled the film's cinematography. The film released after much delay across Tamil Nadu in December 2002.

Neecha Nagar is a 1946 Indian Hindi-language film, directed by Chetan Anand, written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas and Hayatullah Ansari, and produced by Rashid Anwar and A. Halim. It was a pioneering effort in social realism in Indian cinema and paved the way for many such parallel cinema films by other directors, many of them also written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. It starred Chetan Anand's wife Uma Anand, with Rafiq Anwar, Kamini Kaushal, Murad, Rafi Peer, Hamid Butt, and Zohra Sehgal. Neecha Nagar was a Hindi film adaptation in an Indian setting of Russian writer Maxim Gorky's 1902 play The Lower Depths.
Heer Raanjha is a 1970 Indian Hindi-language romantic musical film directed by Chetan Anand and produced by his son Ketan Anand. The film stars Raaj Kumar, Priya Rajvansh, Pran, Prithviraj Kapoor, Ajit, Jayant, Sonia Sahni, Kamini Kaushal, Indrani Mukherjee, Achla Sachdev and Tun Tun. The film's music is by Madan Mohan. The film is based on the legend of Heer Ranjha, the epic poem Heer by Punjabi poet, Waris Shah, written in 1766. As with Waris Shah's classical retelling of the tragic romance of Heer Ranjha, the entire film and its dialogue is in verse, with Urdu poet Kaifi Azmi writing the verse dialogue.
