Khaliq Mehtab bin Mohd Ishaq (born 25 June 1976) is a Malaysian politician, businessman and lawyer who served as Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Bertam from May 2018 to March 2023 and 10th Chairman of the Penang Regional Development Authority (PERDA) from May 2020 to December 2022. He is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) and formerly the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalitions. He has served as Member of the Supreme Council of BERSATU since January 2025.
He is the younger brother of Azlina Mehtab, former Women's Chief of UMNO in Penang. [1] His mother is a Chinese and he communicates with his mother using Hokkien since he was young, although he cannot speak Mandarin Chinese. [2]
He is a lawyer in Messrs. Azlina Mehtab & Associates. [3]
He was appointed as the Chairman of Penang Regional Development Authority in 21 May 2020 to replace Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla. [4]
He joined BERSATU in September 2016. [5] He competed for Bertam in 2018 Malaysian general election and won the seat.

The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support, leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority, the collapse of two successive coalition governments, and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government. This crisis ended in 2022 and Malaysian political crisis continued in the State of Sabah known as 2023 Kinabalu Move.
The National Concord was a Malaysian political coalition that was formed between the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) against the then-ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition which had come into power after the 2018 Malaysian general election (GE14). The political cooperation between the two largest Malay/Muslim-based parties was officialised with the signing of the Piagam Muafakat Nasional. The five-point charter was signed by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the Himpunan Penyatuan Ummah held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur on 14 September 2019. Dato' Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz bin Syed Abdul Fasal (Jawi سيد أبو حسين بن حفيظ سيد عبدالفصل; is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Bukit Gantang since May 2018. He served as Chairman of the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia from May 2020 to December 2022.
