Kieuk (character: ; Korean : 키읔, romanized: kieuk) is a consonant of the Korean Hangul alphabet. It is pronounced aspirated, as [ k ʰ ] at the beginning of a syllable and as [ k ] at the end of a syllable. For example: 코 ko ("nose") is pronounced [kho], while 부엌 bueok ("kitchen") is pronounced [puʌk]. [1] [2] [3]

In South Korean internet slang, the use of (short for ;keu) indicates laughter. Similarly, (short for ;heu) is a lighter laugh than . Either or can be repeated a number of times to this effect. [4]
