Kirkman Finlay III (born February 16, 1970) is an American politician. He is a former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from the 75th District, serving since 2012. He is a member of the Republican Party. [1]
His father, Kirkman Finlay Jr., was mayor of Columbia, South Carolina from 1978 to 1986.
Finlay served on Columbia City Council from 2006 to 2010. [2]
In 2010 Finlay ran for mayor of Columbia, losing to Stephen K. Benjamin
In 2012 Finlay ran for a South Carolina House seat vacated by Jim Harrison, defeating lawyer and Democratic candidate Joe McCulloch in a close race. [3]
In the 2022 general election Finlay was defeated by Democrat Heather Bauer. [4]
In March 2024, Finlay filed to challenge Bauer for South Carolina House District 75. He received the endorsement of House Speaker Murrell Smith Jr. [5] Finlay won the June Republican Primary and will face Bauer in the November general election. [6]

South Carolina's 2nd congressional district is in central and southwestern South Carolina. The district spans from Columbia to the South Carolina side of the Augusta, Georgia metropolitan area.
Rudolph Andreas "André" Bauer is an American businessman and politician who was the 87th Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina from 2003 to 2011. He is a member of the Republican Party. Bauer was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives (1996–1999) and a member of the South Carolina State Senate (1999–2003). In 2016, he became a CNN political analyst, supporting the presidential campaign of Donald Trump. CNN dismissed Bauer in February 2019.
South Carolina's 1st congressional district is a coastal congressional district in South Carolina, represented by Republican Nancy Mace since January 3, 2021. She succeeded Democrat Joe Cunningham, having defeated him in the 2020 election. Cunningham was the first Democrat to represent the district since the 1980s.

The bulk of its population lives on the South Carolina side of the Charlotte metropolitan area, including the rapidly growing cities of Rock Hill, Fort Mill, and Lake Wylie. Outside the Charlotte suburbs, the district is mostly rural and agricultural. The district borders were contracted from some of the easternmost counties in the 2012 redistricting.
