Kishore Kumar Jena (born 6 September 1995) is an Indian track and field athlete who competes in the Javelin throw. [2]
He was born to Keshab and Harapriya Jena who are paddy farmers and hails from the Kothasahi village in the Puri district of Odisha. Before pursuing javelin as a sport, Jena was a volleyball player who quit the sport due to his short stature and rejection from a sports hostel. [3] He is employed at Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Bhopal since 2018. [4]
In June 2023, Jena, won silver in the national championships in Bhubaneshwar. [5] On 30 July 2023, Jena registered his second best throw in Diyagama, Sri Lanka, with a distance of 84.38m. [6]
He registered his then personal best throw of 84.77m in the Javelin Throw Final and finished 5th at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August 2023 overcoming early difficulties in obtaining visa approval from authorities. [7] [8] [4]
On 4 October 2023, he won the silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, with a personal record throw of 87.54m. [1]
He competed in the javelin at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris in August 2024. [9]
Andreas Thorkildsen is a retired Norwegian track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. He was the Olympic Champion in 2004 and 2008, European Champion in 2006 and 2010, and World Champion in 2009. He is the first male javelin thrower in history to simultaneously be European, World and Olympic Champion. He was also a three-time silver medalist at the World Championships, placing second in 2005, 2007 and 2011. His personal best of 91.59 m, set in 2006, is the Norwegian record.
Devendra Jhajharia is an Indian Paralympic javelin thrower competing in F46 events. He is the first Indian Paralympics player to win two gold medals at the Paralympics. He won his first gold in the javelin throw at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, becoming the second gold medalist at the Paralympics for his country. At the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, he won a second gold medal in the same event, bettering his previous record. Devendra is currently being supported by the Olympic Gold Quest. He becomes India's most decorated Paralympic player by winning his third medal, a silver at the 2020 Summer Paralympics at Tokyo. In 2024, he was elected president of the Paralympic Committee of India.
Janusz Jan Sidło was a Polish javelin thrower. He competed at the 1952, 1956, 1960, 1964, and 1968 Olympics and finished in 18th, 2nd, 8th, 4th and 7th place, respectively. He was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and later the Knight's Cross. During his long career Sidło won 14 national titles and competed in five European Championships, winning them in 1954 and 1958 and medalling in 1969.

Jakub Vadlejch is a Czech track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. He is a three-time Olympian for the Czech Republic, having competed in 2012, 2016 and 2020, winning a silver medal in 2020. He also has represented his country six times at the World Championships in Athletics, winning the bronze medal in 2022 and 2023 and silver medal in 2017, and six times a competitor at the European Athletics Championships, winning the silver medal in 2022 and the gold medal in 2024. Johannes Vetter is a German athlete who competes in the javelin throw. He won gold at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. His personal best of 97.76 m is the German record, and ranks him second on the overall list behind Jan Železný. Vetter currently trains under Boris Obergföll and is a member of LG Offenburg's track and field squad. He was previously with SV Saar 05 Saarbrücken and Dresdner SC.
Subedar Major Neeraj Chopra is an Indian track and field athlete who competes in the javelin throw. Considered as the greatest javelin thrower India has produced, Chopra won the gold medal at the 2020 Olympics, becoming the first Asian athlete in javelin throw to do so at Olympics. He is also the first Asian to win the javelin gold in the World Athletics Championships after his win in 2023. Chopra has won gold medals in almost every major javelin throw tournament. He has a streak of having a podium finish in 23 consecutive competitions, dating back to 2020. Since his 2016 performance, he holds the junior javelin throw world record with 86.48 m.
Anderson Peters is a Grenadian javelin thrower and the 2019 and 2022 world champion in the event. In 2024, he won the bronze medal in the men's javelin throw at the Paris Olympic Games. He is a multiple time CARIFTA Games champion at the discipline and in 2016 earned a bronze medal at the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, setting a new Grenadian national record and OECS record at the same time.
Rinku Hooda is an Indian para javelin thrower who competes in the F46 category. He represented India at the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris, his second Olympics and finished at 5th spot with the best throw of 61.58 metres.
Sundar Singh Gurjar an Indian Paralympic athlete from Rajasthan. He competes in javelin throw, shot put and discus throw in F46 category events. He won bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 Paralympics in men's javelin F46 event. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris.
Arshad Nadeem is a Pakistani javelin thrower. He is the reigning Olympic and Commonwealth Games champion. He is also the current silver medalist in the World Athletics Championship. He set an Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 metres (305.0 ft) at the 2024 Summer Olympics. His throw was also the sixth longest throw in the history of javelin throw, when considering only the best throw from each athlete.

Sumit Antil is an Indian Paralympian and javelin thrower. He won the gold in the men's javelin throw F64 event at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics and the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
