Transvision Vamp were an English alternative rock band. Formed in 1986 by Nick Christian Sayer and Wendy James. The band enjoyed chart success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their pop/punk sound. James, the lead singer and focal-point of the group, attracted media attention with her sexually charged and rebellious image. They scored 10 UK chart hits. They also enjoyed considerable success in Australia. Their top single was 1989's "Baby I Don't Care", which reached number three on the UK and Australian charts.

New Order were formed in 1980 by singer, guitarist and keyboardist Bernard Sumner, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris. The group began life as a continuation of their former incarnation Joy Division. Joy Division had disbanded after the death of the lead singer Ian Curtis. Gillian Gilbert, who was Morris' girlfriend at the time, soon joined the group and played guitar and keyboards.

Alexandra "Ally" Fowler is an Australian actress and singer. She is known for her roles as Angela Hamilton in Sons and Daughters (1982–84) and Zoe Davis in Neighbours (1986). As a singer, Fowler is known as one of the four female vocalists of the band Chantoozies (1986–91), which had top 10 hits with a cover version of "Witch Queen" in 1987 and an original track, "Wanna Be Up" in 1988. Their debut self-titled album peaked at No. 8 on the ARIA Albums Chart in September 1988. After the group disbanded Fowler returned to acting, with roles in Big Sky (1997), All Saints (2005–07) and Wentworth (2013–14). From 2012 she has also participated in reunion gigs by Chantoozies.

Eve Sarah von Bibra is an Australian singer-songwriter and actress. From 1986 to 1991, she was a member of the pop group, Chantoozies, as one of four female lead vocalists. She co-wrote their hit, "Wanna Be Up", which peaked in the top 10 on the ARIA Singles Chart in July 1988. Von Bibra acted in the 2006 movie Kenny, playing Jackie – a flight attendant and the title character's love interest. She studied at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and is a member of the Australian branch of the Bibra family.
"He's Gonna Step on You Again" is a song originally performed by John Kongos, co-written by Kongos and Christos Demetriou, and first released in 1971 by Fly Records. It entered the UK Singles Chart on 22 May 1971 and spent 14 weeks there, peaking at No. 4. Covers of the song have been chart successes several times, including for Happy Mondays in 1990.
Cherry were an Australian pop music group from the late 1990s. The five founding vocalists were Amy Canto, Empress Camielle, Hayley Toomey, Gerri and Zoe Trilsbach. Two of their singles reached the ARIA Singles Chart top 60, "S.O.S." and "Saddest Song". Amy and Zoe left the group, which continued as a trio but disbanded soon after in 1999.
