Kori Marie Inkpen (also published as Kori Inkpen Quinn) is a Canadian computer scientist specializing in human-computer interaction at Microsoft Research. [1] A consistent theme of her research has been the interaction of children with computers. [2]
Inkpen is a 1992 graduate of Dalhousie University, [3] and completed her Ph.D. in 1997 at the University of British Columbia (UBC). [1] At UBC, she credits Maria Klawe and a project led by Klawe on educational electronic games for sparking her interest in human-computer interaction and encouraging her to continue in academic computer science. [2] Her dissertation, Adapting the Human-Computer Interface to Support Collaborative Learning Environments, was jointly supervised by Klawe and Kellogg S. Booth. [4]
After postdoctoral research at the University of Washington, [3] she was a faculty member at Simon Fraser University from 1998 to 2001 and at Dalhousie University from 2001 to 2007 before joining Microsoft in 2008. [1]
In 2017 the Canadian Human-Computer Communications Society gave her their CHCCS/SCDHM Achievement Award "for her many contributions to the field of human-computer interaction, especially her work on collaboration technologies". [3]
Stuart K. Card is an American researcher and retired senior research fellow at Xerox PARC. He is considered to be one of the pioneers of applying human factors in human–computer interaction. With Jock D. Mackinlay, George G. Robertson and others he invented a number of information visualization techniques. He holds numerous patents in user interfaces and visual analysis.
Maria Margaret Klawe is a computer scientist and served as the fifth president of Harvey Mudd College from 2006 to 2023. Born in Toronto in 1951, she became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2009. She was previously Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science at Princeton University. She is known for her advocacy for women in STEM fields.

He also started five software companies between 1976 and 2015. He is currently an ACM Distinguished Speaker.
William Arthur Stewart Buxton is a Canadian computer scientist and designer. He is regarded as one of the pioneers in the field of human–computer interaction and is currently active in research at the University of Toronto. He is especially known for his curation of his collection documenting the history of interactive devices. He was a partner researcher at Microsoft Research before leaving in December 2022.

The Dynamic Graphics Project is an interdisciplinary research laboratory at the University of Toronto devoted to projects involving Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Human Computer Interaction, and Visualization. The lab began as the computer graphics research group of Computer Science Professor Leslie Mezei in 1967. Mezei invited Bill Buxton, a pioneer of human–computer interaction to join. In 1972, Ronald Baecker, another HCI pioneer joined dgp, establishing dgp as the first Canadian university group focused on computer graphics and human-computer interaction. According to csrankings.org, for the combined subfields of computer graphics, HCI, and visualization the dgp is the number one research institution in the world.
Projector-camera systems (pro-cam), also called camera-projector systems, augment a local surface with a projected captured image of a remote surface, creating a shared workspace for remote collaboration and communication. Projector-camera systems may also be used for artistic and entertainment purposes. A pro-cam system consists of a vertical screen for implementing interpersonal space where front-facing videos are displayed, and a horizontal projected screen on the tabletop for implementing shared workspace where downward facing videos are overlapped. An automatically pre-warped image is sent to the projector to ensure that the horizontal screen appears undistorted.
