The Kuwait national handball team is controlled by the Kuwait Handball Association. It is highly regarded as one of the most successful national handball teams in Asia and the Arab World. Kuwait has enjoyed great handball success at both the national and club level. The sport is widely considered to be the national icon of Kuwait, although football is more popular among the overall population. Kuwait's golden decade existed from the late 1990s to the late 2000s. Kuwait is also the founding member of the Asian Handball Federation, the Asian Championship and Club Champions League.
On 15 September 2015, the International Handball Federation suspended Kuwait Handball Association. [1]

The Sweden men's national handball team is Sweden's national team in men's handball and is controlled by the Swedish Handball Association. Its most successful periods were under coaches Curt Wadmark (1948–1967) and Bengt Johansson (1988–2004). The team under Bengt Johansson, nicknamed Bengan Boys in Sweden, is regarded as one of the finest national teams in the history of the sport with players like Tomas Svensson, Staffan Olsson, Magnus Wislander and Stefan Lövgren. From 1990 through 2002 the team reached the medal round in every championship and qualified for a record 8 championship finals in a row 1996–2002.
The Egyptian national handball team is the national handball team of Egypt, which represents Egypt in international matches. It is supervised by the Egyptian Handball Federation. Egypt was the first non-European team to reach the semifinals of the World Championships, and the first African team to reach the semifinals in the Olympic tournament.
The Japan national handball team is the national handball team of Japan and is controlled by the Japan Handball Association.
The France national handball team is supervised by the French Handball Federation, and represents France in international matches. It is the first handball team to have held all three titles twice, and the only national team in its sport to hold six world titles and a total of eleven medals at the World Men's Handball Championship. With a total of five medals, including three gold in 2008, 2012 and 2021, France is also the most successful Handball team at the Summer Olympics. As of January 2024, they are the defending European Champions.
The Denmark men's national handball team is controlled by the Danish Handball Association and represents Denmark in international matches. They are the team with the fourth most medals won in European Championship history on the men's side behind Sweden, France and Spain, with a total of seven medals. Two of these are gold medals, two silver (2014,2024) and four bronze medals.
The Germany national handball team is the country's national men's handball team and represents Germany in international tournaments in men's handball and is one of the most successful handball teams in the world, having won three World Championships and two European Championship.

The Tunisia men's national handball team,, nicknamed Eagles of Carthage, is the national hanhandball team of Tunisia. It is controlled by the Tunisian Handball Federation (THF) and takes part in international handball competitions. The Tunisian Handball League was created in 1953. In 1957, the Tunisian Handball Federation was founded and then admitted to the International Handball Federation in 1962.
The Portuguese men's national handball team is governed by the Portuguese Handball Federation and competes in international competitions such as the European Men's Handball Championship and the IHF World Men's Handball Championship. They have participated five times in the World Championship, reaching an all-time best tenth place in 2021, and seven times in the European Championship, with a sixth place in 2020 as their best placing. They participated for the first time in the men's Olympic handball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, finishing in ninth place.

The South Korea women's national handball team is the national team of South Korea. Since 1984 the Korean team has not only participated constantly in Olympic Games but also ranked among the top four nations every time until 2012. Korea grabbed the gold medal in 1988 and 1992, won the silver medal in 1984, 1996, 2004 and took bronze medal in 2008. They have earned two World Championship medals so far: In 1995, they also won the World Championship title in Austria/Hungary 1995 World Women's Handball Championship, they came off third to secure the bronze medal at the Croatia in 2003 World Women's Handball Championship. It is a twelve time Asian Champion, the tournament has been won by any other nation only twice.
The Serbia women's national handball team represents Serbia in international women's handball. It is governed by the Handball Federation of Serbia and takes part in international handball competitions.
Olivier Krumbholz is a French handball coach of German descent who was the head coach for the French women's national team in two periods from 1998-2013 and again from 2016-2024. He is considered one of the most successful national team coaches of all time and the best French women's coach of all time.
The Syrian national handball team is the national handball team of Syria and is controlled by the Syrian Arab Handball Federation.
France competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, between 27 July and 12 August 2012. French athletes have competed in every Summer Olympic Games of the modern era. The French Olympic Committee sent a total of 330 athletes to the Games, 183 men and 147 women, to compete in 24 sports.

The 2021 IHF World Women's Handball Championship, the 25th event by the International Handball Federation, was held in Spain from 1 to 19 December 2021. On 18 October 2018, at a congress in Doha, Qatar, the IHF announced that the World Championship would be expanded from 24 teams to 32 teams from 2021 onwards.
