The 2016 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXI Olympiad and officially branded as Rio 2016, were an international multi-sport event held from 5 to 21 August 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with preliminary events in some sports beginning on 3 August. Rio de Janeiro was announced as the host city at the 121st IOC Session in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 2 October 2009.
Athletes from Belarus began their Olympic participation at the 1952 Summer Games in Helsinki, Finland, as part of the Soviet Union. After the Soviet Union disbanded in 1991, Belarus, along with four of the other fourteen former Soviet republics, competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics as the Unified Team. Later in 1992, Belarus joined eleven republics to compete as the Unified Team at the Summer Games in Barcelona, Spain. The games featured 306 events in 28 sports and 41 disciplines. The 2016 Summer Games were the first Olympics to be held in South America.

Abdullah Al-Rashidi is a Kuwaiti sport shooter and three-time world champion. He competed at the Summer Olympics in 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020, winning bronze medals in men's skeet in both 2016 and 2020.
Lee Wung Yew, is a Singaporean sport shooter. He is a three-time Olympian, a six-time Asian Games competitor, and a thirteen-time Southeast Asian Games medalist (1985–2009). Because of his long-term success and full commitment to the sport, Lee was named Singapore's Sportsman of the Year in 1990 and in 1998. He was also conferred the Public Service Medal and Public Service Star for his contribution to sports. He is currently teaching at Assumption English School as a Physical Education teacher.

Khaled Al-Kaabi is an Emirati sport shooter. An Abu Dhabi Police First Warrant Officer. Al Kaabi placed seventh in the men's double trap event at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Al Kaabi gained a gold medal in Olympic Qualifier Asian Championship, India, which qualified him for the Olympics by winning the double trap gold at the Asian Shooting Qualifier ahead of Kuwait's Fehaid Al Deehani, a bronze medal winner at the 2000 Sydney and 2012 London Games. Al Kaabi has received a major "morale boost" ahead of his double trap. The latest Asian rankings, which see him climb to No2 in the men's double trap. Al Kaabi Won Gold Medal (Individuals) in Pan Arab Shooting Championship, Morocco 2015. Al Kaabi who is seeded 7th in the Olympic Ranking, won gold medal of Cyprus Grand Prix in Shogun 2017.
