Kyle Hallock (born August 6, 1988) is an American baseball coach and former pitcher, who is the current head baseball coach of the Bowling Green Falcons. [1] He played college baseball at Kent State for coach Scott Stricklin from 2008 to 2011 before playing professionally from 2011 to 2013.

Playing career

Hallock attended Perkins High School in Sandusky, Ohio, where we played baseball and basketball. He was recruited to play baseball at Kent State, where he would pitch on scholarship. Hallock was drafted in the 49th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball draft by the Philadelphia Phillies, but he declined signing and returned to Kent State. As a senior in 2011, Hallock pitched himself to the Mid-American Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Year Award. [2] Hallock was then drafted in the 10th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft by the Houston Astros. [3]

In 2011, Hallock played for the Class A Short Season Tri-City ValleyCats. He posted a 3–4 record for the Cats while holding a 2.63 earned run average over 61+2⁄3 innings pitched. His played earned him NYP Mid-Season All-Star and MiLB.com Organization All-Star. [4] In 2012, Hallock split the time between the Class A Lexington Legends and Rookie league GCL Astros. He held a combined record 1–3 over 30+2⁄3 innings pitched. In 2013, Hallock started the season in Class A with the Quad City River Bandits where he would appear in just one game before being promoted to the Triple-A Oklahoma City RedHawks. For the RedHawks, Hallock had a 1–0 record in nine appearances and a 3.72 earned run average over 19+1⁄3 innings pitched. Hallock would then finish the season between the Class A-Advanced Lancaster JetHawks and Class AA Corpus Christi Hooks. Over three affiliated seasons, Hallock threw 188+2⁄3 innings and struck out 138 batters while holding a 9–13 record. [5]

Coaching career

In 2014, Hallock served as assistant coach of the Yarmouth–Dennis Red Sox, a collegiate summer baseball team in the Cape Cod Baseball League. [6] In the fall of 2014, Hallock was named the pitching coach at Malone University. In the fall of 2018, Hallock was named the pitching coach at Bowling Green State University. [7] On June 3, 2020, Danny Schmitz stepped down as the head baseball coach at Bowling Green, and Hallock was promoted to interim head coach. [8] In 2021, Hallock was the youngest head coach in the country during his first season at the helm. [9] In 2022, Hallock coached the Falcons to a win over Michigan State, the program's first win against a Power 5 opponent since 2014. [10] In 2023, the Falcons defeated No.5 ranked Louisville for their first top five victory in program history. [11]

Anderson was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1985 and the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.

    The Bowling Green Falcons are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Bowling Green State University (BGSU), in Bowling Green, Ohio, United States. The Falcons compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Division. The men's ice hockey team competes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA); and men's soccer competes in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), following the MAC shutting down its men's soccer league at the end of the 2022 season. Bowling Green sponsors teams in seven men's and 11 women's NCAA-sanctioned sports and the football team competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest level for college football. BGSU is one of only 15 universities in the United States that plays Division I FBS football and Division I men's ice hockey.

Former head coach Michael Huger was fired after the 2022-23 season, and Todd Simon was hired to replace him on March 15, 2023.

    The 2023–24 Bowling Green Falcons men's basketball team represented Bowling Green State University in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Falcons, led by Todd Simon in his first year as head coach, played their home games at the Stroh Center in Bowling Green, Ohio as members of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the regular season 19–12, 10–8 in MAC play to finish in 5th place. They defeated Central Michigan in the first round of the MAC tournament before losing to Kent State in the second round. The Falcons received an invitation to play in the CIT where they were defeated by Purdue Fort Wayne in the opening round, bringing their final record to 20–14.
