Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences (KyAMK) was a university of applied sciences located in Kotka, in the region of Kymenlaakso in Finland. [1] Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences was established in 1996, and ceased to operate at the end of 2016, when it merged with Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences to form South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (Xamk). [2]

Kymenlaakso is a region in Finland. It borders the regions of Uusimaa, Päijät-Häme, South Savo and South Karelia and Russia. Its name means literally The Valley of River Kymi. Kymijoki is one of the biggest rivers in Finland with a drainage basin with 11% of the area of Finland. The city of Kotka with 51,000 inhabitants is located at the delta of River Kymi and has the most important import harbour in Finland. Other cities are Kouvola further in the inland which has after a municipal merger 81,000 inhabitants and the old bastion town Hamina.

Jyri Jukka Häkämies is a Finnish politician and the CEO of Confederation of Finnish Industries. He was Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs between 2011 and 2012, and a representative of the National Coalition Party, and the minister responsible for supervision of government enterprises with the exception of Patria, which is supervised by Jan Vapaavuori. It was established in 1992 and ceased to operate at the end of 2016 when it merged with Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences to form South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK).

South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences is a University of Applied Sciences in Finland. It was established in the beginning of 2017, when Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences (Kyamk) and Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences (Mamk) merged. Xamk is the 4th largest university of applied sciences in Finland with 11 458 students and 897 staff members across four campuses. Xamk is jointly owned by the cities of Mikkeli, Kotka, Savonlinna and Kouvola with Mikkeli holding a majority stake (52%) since August 2019.

A stock exchange cooperative or stock exchange co-operative is a business organization owned by its members, where individuals or organizations can publicly buy and sell the cooperative’s shares, akin to the way shares of public companies are traded. It is a business entity that is available in Finland. Starting the stock exchange cooperatives has been possible since 2013 the Co-operatives Act. In Finnish, the stock exchange cooperative is named pörssiosuuskunta and in Finlandssvenska it is called börsandelslag. Stock exchange cooperatives have some structural governing differences regarding standard co-operatives in Finland. For instance, the use of representatives in the cooperative assembly cannot be limited which can be done in the standard Finnish cooperatives.
