Saimaa University of Applied Sciences (Finnish : Saimaan ammattikorkeakoulu) was a university of applied sciences in the region of South Karelia, Finland.
Before 2009, it was known as South Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Etelä-Karjalan ammattikorkeakoulu). Its campuses located in Lappeenranta. Saimaa University of Applied Sciences had had campus in Imatra, but it closed, and all the functions were moved to Lappeenranta.
In January 2020, Lahti University of Applied Sciences and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences merged, establishing the new LAB University of Applied Sciences. [1]

Lappeenrannan kisapuiston jäähalli, often shortened to Kisapuiston jäähalli, is an ice hockey arena in the Lappeenrannan kisapuisto of Lappeenranta, Finland. It is best known as the home arena of SaiPa, an ice hockey team in the Liiga, and is therefore sometimes called Kisapuiston liigajäähalli.

Suvorov military canals is a series of four open canals on Saimaa lake in Finland. The four canals of Kutvele, Käyhkää, Kukonharju and Telataipale are located in Puumala, Ruokolahti and Sulkava. They were built between 1791 and 1798 as part of the South-Eastern Finland fortification system and are the oldest canals in Finland. The canals are named after general Alexander Suvorov who ordered their construction.

The Suomen Palloliiton Saimaan piiri(SPL Saimaa district) was a district organisation of the Football Association of Finland operating from 1924 to 1994. Until the Second World War the district was known as the Suomen Palloliiton Viipurin piiri . It administered football and bandy initially in and around Viipuri, later expanding to cover the southern part of the historical Finnish Karelia, and ultimately in the Lake Saimaa area. Currently it's part of the Suomen Palloliiton Kaakkois-Suomen piiri.
Lauritsala is a former Finnish market town in the South Karelia region. It was closed down on 1 January 1967 and was incorporated into Lappeenranta. The present district of Lauritsala comprises only the center of the former town.
Krista Parkkonen is a Finnish ice hockey player and member of the Finnish national team. She plays with the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey program in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) conference of the NCAA Division I.
Konnunsuo is a small village of the former municipality of Joutseno, today part of the Lappeenranta in South Karelia, Finland. It is located about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from the Russian border. In 2020, only 73 people lived in the village postal code area. The landscape of the central part of the village is dominated by the former Konnunsuo Prison, which was turned into an agricultural prison in the early 20th century. Officially, prison operations in Konnunsuo ended in May 2011.
Lappee is an old parish and a former municipality of Finland in the South Karelia region, originally in the Viipuri Province and after the Second World War, the Kymi Province. It was consolidated with Lappeenranta in 1967 together with Lauritsala.
