Tampere University of Applied Sciences (Finnish : Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulu, TAMK) is a university of applied sciences (a polytechnic) in the region of Pirkanmaa, Finland. Together with Tampere University, they constitute the Tampere higher education community. [1]

Founded in 1996, TAMK merged with the Pirkanmaa University of Applied Sciences in 2010. [2] TAMK's main campus is located in the city of Tampere, 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the city centre. There is one other smaller campus in Tampere, Mediapolis, focusing on Media and Arts education. [3]

Education

TAMK has almost 10,000 students divided among over forty degree programmes, of which around fifteen are conducted in English. [4]

TAMK offers education in nine fields of study. TAMK's educational provision focuses particularly on wellbeing and health, business, and industrial production, with special emphasis on promoting learning and creativity. [5]

Academic collaboration

TAMK has collaboration with more than 300 universities in fifty countries. TAMK takes part in several mobility programmes, e.g. Erasmus +, Nordplus, and has strategic partnerships with some higher education institutions in Europe. TAMK Global Education Services provides vocational and higher education services to TAMK’s partners around the world. [7]

One form of academic collaboration is also TAMK’s RDI cooperation with international partners. [8]

LAB University of Applied Sciences is a Finnish University of applied sciences (Finland) that operates in Lahti, Lappeenranta and online. LAB started its operations on January 1, 2020, when Lahti University of Applied Sciences (LAMK) and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences (SAIMIA) merged.

Sakari Rainer Puisto is a Finnish politician. He was a candidate of the Finns Party in European Parliament elections in 2014 and in parliamentary elections in 2015 and 2019. In spring 2015, he participated in the government negotiations. He worked as a Senior Adviser to former Minister of Employment Jari Lindström in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland. During this time, he especially focused on the asylum seeker crisis as well as education and innovation policy, in addition to economic affairs and employment policy. In 2019, he was a candidate of the Finns Party in Pirkanmaa constituency and was elected to the Parliament.
