Tampere University Hospital (Finnish : Tampereen yliopistollinen sairaala, TAYS, [1] Swedish : Tammerfors universitetssjukhus) is a teaching hospital of Tampere University along Teiskontie at the Kauppi district in Tampere, Finland. It serves as one of the main hospitals in the country and operates in the facilities of Central Hospital (Keskussairaala) and Heart Hospital (Sydänsairaala) in Tampere, Pitkäniemi Hospital in Nokia, Valkeakoski Hospital in Valkeakoski and Sastamala Hospital in Sastamala. 34 medical specialties are represented at Tampere University Hospital. Most of the specialty activities take place at the Central Hospital, with more than a thousand beds and over 3,000 employees. The hospital provides services to more than 1 million Finns. [4] [5]

The hospital belongs to Pirkanmaa Hospital District, of which it covers 80%. The 24h emergency center of Tampere University Hospital treats patients from Tampere, Hämeenkyrö, Ikaalinen, Nokia, Orivesi, Pirkkala, Ruovesi, Sastamala, Virrat and Ylöjärvi. [5]

Tampere University Hospital campus is the Eastern terminus of Tampere light rail. The line connects Tampere University Hospital to the city center. [6]

Most of the water area in the Kokemäki River watershed is located in the Pirkanmaa region, although Lake Vanajavesi is partly in the Kanta-Häme region. All-female units of the paramilitary Red Guards served in the 1918 Finnish Civil War. The first Women's Guards units formed in early February in the main Finnish cities. More than 15 female Guards units were established by the end of March 1918, with a total of about 2,000 women serving. The female Guards units consisted of young industrial workers, maids, and servants. Their average age was about 20, but some were as young as 14. The women served in auxiliary units in combat.

Hatanpää is a district in Tampere, Finland, located in the southern part of the city center on the shores of Lake Pyhäjärvi. Hatanpää is actually a peninsula that protrudes towards the lake, leaving the waters of Viinikanlahti Bay to the north and Vihilahti Bay to the south. The area is named after Hatanpää Manor, whose land from Härmälä to Sääksjärvi and Nekala was bought for the city in 1913. Administratively, the area has belonged to the city since 1920.
