A netbook belongs to a class of small, lightweight, legacy-free, and inexpensive laptop computers introduced in 2007. Netbooks compete in the same market segment as mobiles and Chromebooks.
A tablet computer, commonly shortened to tablet, is a mobile device, typically with a mobile operating system and touchscreen display processing circuitry, and a rechargeable battery in a single, thin and flat package. Tablets, being computers, do what other personal computers do, but lack some input/output (I/O) abilities that others have. Modern tablets largely resemble modern smartphones, the only differences being that tablets are relatively larger than smartphones, with screens 7 inches (18 cm) or larger, measured diagonally, and may not support access to a cellular network.

The LG Optimus series is a series of smartphones and tablet computers manufactured by LG Electronics. Optimus-branded devices have been produced running both the Android and Windows Phone 7 operating systems.

The HTC Flyer is a tablet computer by HTC Corporation. It was announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011 and released in May 2011. Unlike other tablets announced at MWC, the Flyer has a single-core 1.5 GHz CPU and ran 2.3.3 (Gingerbread). In February 2011 it was reported that HTC had claimed via Facebook that "Flyer will be getting a Honeycomb upgrade in Q2", however an HTC representative subsequently stated "I can confirm that we are working to bring a Honeycomb update to Flyer in short order – however, I don't have any specific information on what the timing may be." The version running Android 3.2.1 (Honeycomb) was released later in 2011. The HTC Flyer can be updated up to Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1 through the use of custom ROMs.
The LG Optimus Pad is a tablet computer developed by LG Electronics for its own line-up and for specific mobile carriers in selected countries. Mobile carries include NTT DoCoMo and T-Mobile which unlike its domestic rival, Samsung offering the same tablet model for specific carriers, LG does not alter the specs of those they release to these carriers and the only alteration is on the addition of the mobile carriers logo on it. The LG Optimus Pad was first released in South Korea in April 2011 and then in the US in March 2011 which is also known as the T-Mobile G-Slate. It is LG's first device running Android 3.0 ("Honeycomb") and appeared at the Mobile World Congress in February 2011.

The IdeaPad tablets from Lenovo was a brand of consumer-oriented tablet computers designed for home use or entertainment, as opposed to the business-focused ThinkPad Tablet series. Devices sold in certain countries, such as China, India and New Zealand, were sold under the LePad brand, similar to the LePhone series of smartphones. IdeaPad-branded tablets have been produced with the Android and Windows operating systems.
Atom is a system on a chip (SoC) platform designed for smartphones and tablet computers, launched by Intel in 2012. It is a continuation of the partnership announced by Intel and Google on September 13, 2011 to provide support for the Android operating system on Intel x86 processors. This range competes with existing SoCs developed for the smartphone and tablet market from companies such as Texas Instruments, Nvidia, Qualcomm and Samsung. Unlike these companies, which use ARM-based CPUs designed from the beginning to consume very low power, Intel has adapted the x86-based Intel Atom line of CPU developed for low power usage in netbooks, to even lower power usage.
