Lamar Campbell (born February 13, 1964, as Millard Lamar Campbell II) is an American gospel musician. He started his music career in 1987, and has since created the group Spirit of Praise that are based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. They have released nine albums with six of them charting on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. He has released albums with a few labels, such as the following: Tyscot, EMI Gospel, Alliant, NuSpring, Soul Stride

Early life

Campbell was born Millard Lamar Campbell, [1] on February 13, 1964, in Indianapolis, Indiana. [2] His parents reared him in the Haughville Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he played the piano for the church choir at an early age. [2] He is a graduate of Broad Ripple High School, and went on to study music at Butler University. [2] Campbell became a minister of music in 1987 and formed his first group called Lamar Campbell & Praise. [2] In 1992, the group disbanded as Campbell felt he was becoming arrogant due to its success, and wanted to spend time focusing on God's work instead. [2] In 1995, he composed Lamar Campbell & Spirit of Praise, while he was at Light of the World Church, as their music minister. [2] [3]

Music career

His music career began in 1987, with the release of Ready by Tyscot Records on April 16[ citation needed ], 1989, [4] yet this did not chart. [5] After the group disbanded and Spirits of Praise were formed in 1995, Campbell's success in the music industry started to improve. The self-titled album, Lamar Campbell & Spirit of Praise, was released on May 19, 1998, by EMI Gospel. [6] This was his breakthrough release on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart, which he would get five more albums to chart on that particular chart. [5] He has released albums with five labels, Tyscot Records, EMI Gospel, Alliant Records, NuSpring Records, and Soul Stride Records. [6]

The Anointed Pace Sisters, commonly known as The Pace Sisters, TAPS is an American gospel vocal group based in Atlanta. In 2008, he signed to EMI CMG, releasing his first and only album, Reflections, in 2008. It charted on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart, and he got a Grammy Award nomination at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards in the Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album category.

Brent Ray Jones is an American gospel musician, pianist, and choir conductor. He started his music career, in 1999, with the release of Brent Jones & the T.P. Mobb with Holy Roller Entertainment, and this charted on three Billboard magazine charts. His second album, Beautiful, came out in 2002 with EMI GMG Records, which this charted three charts. The third album, The Ultimate Weekend, released in 2007 by Tyscot Records, and this placed on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. He released, Joy Comin', in 2014 with Echopark Records, and this placed upon the Gospel Albums chart.

Reverend Oscar Eason Hayes, was an American gospel musician and leader of The Abundant Life Fellowship Chorale. He started his music career, in 1991, with the release of Got 2 Tell It by Tyscot Records. His second album, Simply Determined, was released in 1993 by Tyscot Records, and this was his breakthrough release upon the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart. The third release, Choir Music, Vol. 1: Live in New Orleans, came out in 2001 from Sound of Gospel and this placed on the aforementioned chart.

Javen P. Campbell, who goes by the stage name JAVEN, is an American gospel musician and Christian R&B recording artist. His music career started in 2002, with the release, Javen, by Crowne Music Group. He would release two more albums, 2006's Believer with JCM Records, and 2008's Keeping the Faith with Melrose Records, yet these failed to place on any charts. The subsequent album, Worship in the Now, was released in 2013 by Tyscot Records. This album would be his breakthrough released upon the Billboard Gospel Albums and Heatseekers Albums charts.

Tiffany Joy McGhee, who goes by the stage name Tiff Joy, is an American urban contemporary gospel artist and musician. She started her music career, in 2014, by performing on an album by Ricky Dillard. Her first studio album, TIFF JOY, was released on September 25, 2015 by WalkWay Music Group, VMan Entertainment, and Tyscot Records. This album was her breakthrough release upon the Billboard magazine charts.

Lucinda Moore is an American urban contemporary gospel, traditional black gospel, and gospel music recording artist and musician. She started her music career in 1989, and her first studio album, Lucinda Moore, was released by Tyscot Records in 2006. Her second album, Blessed, Broken & Given, was released in 2010, by them. These albums both achieved placements on the Billboard magazine charts.
