Lampton is a Leading Edge school, and is a training school which currently has around 1,358 students on roll. Lampton borders the A4 (Great West Road) in Hounslow, and is next to Lampton Park. This is about one mile west of Spring Grove, and a mile south of the M4 near Heston. Osterley Park is a mile to the north-east. Its ethnic mix reflects that of the local area, with most students being of South Asian heritage. The school has a wide range of ethnicities, including white British, Polish, and many more from across the world. Around 30% of students receive free school meals.
Lampton also offers a 6th Form for pupils aged 16 and over, which takes the majority of its intake from Lampton GCSE students, but is also open to applicants from outside the school. The headteacher is Stephen Davis. He was preceded by Sue John, also known as Dame Susan Elizabeth John (born 1953), who was knighted in 2012 for her service to education.
Lampton School used to be known as Spring Grove Grammar School, a grammar school before being converted to a comprehensive. The school gained its Humanities Specialist status in 2003, a designation which enabled the building of the Language and Learning Zone (LLZ), a multi-media and Information and communication technologies suite situated at the western end of the Spring Grove building.
In recent years an ultra-modern Sixth Form Block resembling a barn was constructed on what used to be a hockey gravel pit.
One of Britain's most high-profile unsolved murders occurred outside the school in September 1975. At approximately 11:20pm on the evening of 3 September 1975, a 16-year-old schoolgirl named Lynne Weedon was hit over the head with a blunt object by an unidentified attacker in the 'School Walk' alleyway (also known as the 'Short Hedges'), which provides access to the school from the Great West Road.
The site of Weedon's murder remains largely unchanged today. [1] [2] [3] The electricity sub-station where she was found remains next to the School Walk alleyway, as does the original fence she was thrown over by her attacker. [1]
The last OFSTED inspection, in 2013, found the school to be "outstanding". [4] In 2009 Ofsted highlighted Lampton as one of 67 good schools serving disadvantaged communities.
The school has a good record of students attaining places on the Prime Minister's Global Fellowship programme. The school achieved its first student in the inaugural year of the programme, 2008, and in 2009 had two more successful applicants. [5]

Isleworth is a suburban town located within the London Borough of Hounslow in West London, England. It lies immediately east of the town of Hounslow and west of the River Thames and its tributary the River Crane. Most of its land use is mixed agricultural and aesthetic parkland at Osterley House, charity-run, much of which is open to paying visitor access.
Newham Sixth Form College (NewVIc) is a sixth form college located in the East London borough of Newham. Situated on a single site in Plaistow, the college was established in 1992 to provide for students in Newham and neighbouring boroughs who opt to stay in education beyond GCSE O-levels. It is designed for students ages 16 to 19 and its curriculum includes A-levels as well as specialist pathway, levels 2 and 3 vocational, foundation level and ESOL programmes. There are currently about 2,500 students at the college.
Highfields School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Matlock, Derbyshire, England. At the time of its September 2012 Ofsted inspection, the school had 1175 pupils on roll aged 11–18, with 215 in the sixth form. It is split across two sites in the town 1.8 miles apart.
West Thames College is a medium-sized college of further and higher education in West London, England. It was formed in 1976, originally named Hounslow Borough College, having gained its current name in 1993. The college has two campuses in the London Borough of Hounslow: a main campus in Isleworth and a smaller Skills Centre in Feltham. As of 2014 there were over 5,200 enrolled students at the college. The college offers a wide range of A Levels and specialist vocational courses up to higher education level: BTECs, NVQs, City & Guilds, Foundation Degrees and HNDs.
Park View School is an academy and sixth form in Chester-le-Street, County Durham for students aged 11 to 18. Year 7 and 8 students spend the first two years at the North Lodge site two miles to the north of the Church Chare site. During 2012 to 2013, it underwent a £1 million refurbishment.
Worcester Sixth Form College is a 16-19 Academy in Worcester, England. It is located in the south-east of the city and was founded on the site of the former Worcester Grammar School for Girls following reorganisation in 1983. The College joined the Heart of Mercia Multi-Academy Trust in 2019.

The murders of Eve Stratford and Lynne Weedon, two young women from London, England, occurred in separate, sexually motivated attacks by the same unidentified individual during 1975. Stratford was a bunny girl and Weedon was a schoolgirl who was killed almost six months later, on the other side of London. After Weedon's cold case was re-opened in 2004, new DNA techniques revealed that she and Stratford had been murdered by the same person. Stratford's case was re-opened in 2007, but neither case has been solved. A £40,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the killer remains on offer.
Brighton, Hove & Sussex Sixth Form College, usually abbreviated to BHASVIC, is a sixth form college in Brighton and Hove, England for 16- to 19-year-old students. The Bewdley School is a senior school and sixth form in Bewdley, serving north-west Worcestershire, England. Calday Grange Grammar School is an 11–18 non-denominational, academically selective, boys grammar school, founded in 1636, situated on Caldy Hill in Grange, a suburb of West Kirby on the Wirral peninsula, England. On 16 June 1980, Patricia "Patsy" Morris, a 14-year-old schoolgirl from Feltham, London, was murdered by strangulation. She disappeared after leaving her school during her lunch break, and was found dead in undergrowth on Hounslow Heath near her home two days later. Despite repeated appeals for information by police, her murder remains unsolved.
The murders ofKate BushellandLinda "Lyn" Bryant, a 14-year-old schoolgirl and a 41-year-old woman, respectively, occurred in separate incidents of West Country, England. The events occurred in 15 November 1997 and 20 October 1998 respectively. The similar circumstances of the murders led investigators to conclude that there is a high possibility the murders are linked, with both killed with knives while walking dogs along isolated lanes.
The murder of Lisa Jane Hession is a notorious British unsolved murder which involved a sexually-motivated attack on a 14-year-old schoolgirl in Leigh, Greater Manchester, while she walked home from a party shortly before Christmas. On the evening 8 December 1984, Lisa Hession was found strangled to death in an alleyway only 200 yards from her home, with the murder occurring after a spate of sex attacks on women and girls in the area. Despite a reconstruction and appeal on Crimewatch in 2005 and the subsequent isolation of a partial profile of the killer's DNA, the murderer has not been apprehended.
