Bell has been involved in politics for most of the last decade. From 2015-2021 he was the Chairman of the St. Clair County Republican Party. And he currently serves as the incumbent GOP chairmen for the 3rd congressional district of Alabama. [1]
His senatorial career started in 2022 when he ran for the seat left open by Jim McClendon's retirement. He won the republican primary easily with 73% of the vote,and then faced no major challenger in the general election. [2] [3]

He ran for re-election in 2018,but was defeated by Democrat Tom Malinowski. He is a member of the Republican Party who previously served in the New Jersey Senate from 2002 to 2009 and the New Jersey General Assembly from 1991 to 2002.
Alabama's 3rd congressional district is a United States congressional district in Alabama that elects a representative to the United States House of Representatives. It is based in east-central Alabama and encompasses Calhoun,Chambers,Cherokee,Clay,Cleburne,Lee,Macon,Randolph,Russell,St. Clair,Talladega,and Tallapoosa counties,and parts of Chilton County. Cities in the district include Phenix City,Talladega,Tuskegee,and Auburn. Prior to the most recent redistricting cycle,the 3rd district had included parts of the state capital city of Montgomery in Montgomery County.
The Alabama Republican Party is the state affiliate of the Republican Party in Alabama. It is the dominant political party in Alabama. The state party is governed by the Alabama Republican Executive Committee. The committee usually meets twice a year. As of the February 23,2019 meeting in Birmingham,the committee is composed of 463 members. Most of the committee's members are elected in district elections across Alabama. The district members are elected in the Republican Primary once every four years,with the most recent election for the committee having been on June 5,2018. The new committee takes office following the general election in November 2018. In addition,all 67 county GOP chairmen have automatic seats as voting members. The state chairman can appoint 10 members. Each county committee can appoint bonus members based on a formula that theoretically could add 312 seats,although that formula currently calls for only about 50 seats.
