Mark Odom Hatfield was an American politician and educator from the state of Oregon. A Republican,he served eight years as Governor of Oregon,followed by 30 years as one of its United States senators,including time as chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. A native Oregonian,he served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II after graduating from Willamette University. After the war he earned a graduate degree from Stanford University before returning to Oregon and Willamette as a professor.

An Oregon native,he served in the Oregon Legislative Assembly as Speaker of the House and as Oregon Secretary of State for two terms before election as United States Senator from Oregon. Katherine Brown is an American politician and attorney who served as the 38th governor of Oregon from 2015 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party,she served three terms as the state representative from the 13th district of the Oregon House of Representatives from 1991 to 1997,three terms as the state senator from the 21st district of the Oregon Senate from 1997 to 2009,three terms as majority leader of the Oregon Senate from 2003 to 2009,and two terms as Oregon Secretary of State from 2009 to 2015. She assumed the governorship upon the resignation of John Kitzhaber in 2015. She was elected to serve out the remainder of his gubernatorial term in the special election in 2016 and was reelected to a full term in 2018.
Peter Michael Coleman Courtney is an American politician,lawyer,and professor who was a Democratic member of the Oregon State Senate,representing the 11th District since 1999. He served as President of the Senate from 2003 to 2023. He was a member of the Oregon House of Representatives in 1981,1983,and from 1989 through 1998. Courtney previously taught at Western Oregon University.
Margaret Louise Carter is an American politician who was a Democratic member of the Oregon Legislative Assembly from 1985 to 1999 and 2001 to 2009 and was the first black woman elected to the state's legislature. A native of Texas,Starr served in the Oregon State Senate with his son Bruce Starr,the first time in Oregon's history a father and son served in the Senate together.
Bruce Starr is an American politician and businessman in Oregon. A Republican,he served two terms in the Oregon House of Representatives before winning election to the Oregon State Senate in 2002. There he joined his father Senator Charles Starr and they became the first father-son team to serve at the same time in Oregon's Senate. Bruce had previously been a member of the Hillsboro City Council,and was re-elected to the Senate in 2006 and 2010,but lost a bid in 2012 to be the Oregon Labor Commissioner.

Oregon Ballot Measure 113,the Exclusion from Re-election for Legislative Absenteeism Initiative,was approved by Oregon voters in the 2022 Oregon elections. Measure 113 amended the Constitution of Oregon to provided that members of the Oregon Legislature with ten unexcused absences from floor sessions are disqualified from serving in the legislature following their current term. It is codified as Article IV,Section 15 of the Oregon Constitution.
Gustavus Charles Moser was an American attorney and state legislator from Portland,Oregon. He served twenty years in the Oregon State Senate from 1913 through 1932. Moser was a conservative Republican who represented Multnomah County in the state senate. He was President of the Oregon State Senate twice. The first time was during the 1917–1918 legislative term and then again during the 1925–1926 term. He also served as acting governor for a week in 1926. Moser was a successful attorney who practiced law from 1894 until his death in 1937. As a young lawyer,he served as Multnomah County's deputy district attorney. In that position,he argued several cases before the Oregon Supreme Court. Later,he was appointed chief legal counsel for the Port of Portland.
William Thomas Vinton,known as W. T. Vinton or Billy Vinton,was an American attorney and politician from McMinnville,Oregon. He represented Yamhill County in the Oregon State Senate from 1915 through 1922,as a conservative Republican. He was president of the state senate from 1919 through 1920. In that capacity,he served as acting governor for two short periods in 1919 while the elected governor was out of the state. Vinton was a successful attorney who practiced law from 1892 until his death in 1945.
