Leading Edge Air Foils LLC (formerly Leading Edge Air Foils, Inc.), usually called LEAF, is an American aircraft parts supplier based in Lyons, Wisconsin. It is a US limited liability company. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

The company was founded by Bill Raisner in Peyton, Colorado, in the 1980s and claims to be the oldest ultralight aircraft parts supplier. The company specializes in the provision of aircraft parts and aircraft engines and in the past supplied kit aircraft for amateur construction and ready-to-fly aircraft under the US FAR 103 Ultralight Vehicles rules. The company is owned by Bill Read and Mary Myers and is part of the Wag-Aero group of companies. [7] At one time a subsidiary, Raisner Aircraft Depot (RAD), sold the aircraft kits. [6]

LEAF at one time offered kits and parts for other designer's aircraft, such as Dennis Wiley's Early Bird Jenny, Graham Lee's Circa Reproductions Nieuport, the J & J Ultralights Tukan and Antares MA-32 ultralight trikes, as well as two of Raisner's own designs, the Raisner Graffiti two seat trike and the LEAF Trike single seat trike. The Advanced Aviation Explorer is a two-seat ultralight marketed in kit form, for amateur construction. It is a high-wing taildragger aircraft of pusher configuration with tandem seating.

The Piper PA-8 Skycycle was a 1940s American single-seat light aircraft designed and built by Piper Aircraft at their Lock Haven, Pennsylvania plant. Towards the end of 1944 Piper announced a number of aircraft it intended to build after the war. One of these was the PWA-8. An aerodynamic test aircraft was built with the name Cub Cycle and it first flew on 27 August 1944 with a small two cylinder Franklin engine. The Franklin engine was replaced by a 37 hp (28 kW) Continental A-40-3 and the aircraft first flew with the Continental engine on 12 September 1944. The Skycycle was a fabric-covered mid-wing single-engined single-seat monoplane with a tailwheel landing gear. The fuselage was produced using a belly fuel tank as used on the F4U Corsair. The Cub Cycle was scrapped and a similar but new aircraft was built with the name Skycycle. The Skycycle first flew on 29 January 1945 using the same Continental engine as the Cub Cycle. The aircraft was further modified in 1945 with a 55 hp (41 kW) Lycoming O-145-A2 engine and designated the PA-8 Skycycle. No further examples were built.

Chotia Weedhopper American ultralight airplane

The Weedhopper is an American high-wing, tractor configuration, tricycle gear, two-axis control ultralight aircraft originally developed by John Chotia during the height of the 1970s ultralight boom and introduced in 1977. When it was in production the aircraft was sold as a kit for amateur construction and could be assembled in 25-30 man-hours.

The Circa Reproductions Nieuports are a family of Canadian 7/8 scale World War I sesquiplane aircraft replicas designed by Graham Lee of Lamont, Alberta for amateur construction from plans sold by Lee's company Circa Reproductions. Leading Edge Air Foils of Peyton, Colorado at one time also made construction kits available. Lee's Nieuports were among the earliest First World War replicas available and paved the way for later companies to produce plans and kits for a great variety of warbirds.

Rans Designs, previously called Rans Inc., is an American aircraft and bicycle manufacturer based in Hays, Kansas, United States. The company name is a portmanteau of the first and last names of the company founder, Randy Schlitter. Rans has produced over 3000 aircraft in kit form and as completed aircraft.
