Leandro Zdero (born 18 January 1971) is an Argentine politician. He was elected in 2023 to serve as Governor of Chaco Province.
Leandro Zdero was born in Quitilipi. He is an architect and a teacher at the National University of the Northeast. [1]
He ran for mayor of Resistencia,Chaco in 2015,but was defeated by former governor Jorge Capitanich. He ran again in 2019 and was defeated by Gustavo Martínez. [1]
He ran for governor in 2023,and held primary elections within the Juntos por el Cambio party against Juan Carlos Polini. He won without any noticeable disputes with Polini,who worked alongside him since then. He ran against Governor Jorge Capitanich,who was running for re-election and won. His victory ended 16 years of continuous rule of the Justicialist Party in the province. [1] The transition negotiations between Capitanich and Zdero were interrupted a month later,as the elected vicegovernor Silvana Schneider accused the outgoing government of proving false and misleading information. [2] They also denounced that Capitanich had made cheques to be paid by the administration of Zdero by 1500 millions of pesos,and that he added 17000 new employees to the government. [3]
Zdero took office on 9 December 2023. He announced that the province was in a poor condition,and that his administration would start a full audit of the provincial state. [4]
Jorge Milton Capitanich is an Argentine politician,businessman,and accountant. He served as Governor of Chaco Province from 2007 to 2013,from February to December 2015,and later from 2019 to 2023. A member of the Justicialist Party,he previously served as Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers from 2013 until 2015,serving under President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner,as intendente (mayor) of Chaco's capital city,Resistencia,and as National Senator,representing Chaco as well. Since 2007 he has also been president of the Club Atlético Sarmiento.
Republican Proposal is a centre-right to right political party in Argentina. It is usually referred to by its abbreviation,PRO. PRO was formed as an electoral alliance in 2005,but was transformed into a national party in 2010. It is the major component of the Juntos por el Cambio coalition,and its leader is former Argentine president Mauricio Macri.

The K money trail was a 2013 journalistic investigation into political corruption in Argentina. It began with reports on the Periodismo para todos television program hosted by journalist Jorge Lanata. The investigation was named "the K money trail" to imply that former presidents Néstor Kirchner and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner were involved. The investigation showed embezzlement had taken place and suggested the money trail involved Néstor Kirchner,Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and an alleged partner,businessman Lázaro Báez. The journalists concluded that Báez diverted money intended for public infrastructure to tax havens. The television show led to an official investigation. In April 2016,Lázaro Baez was arrested for corruption charges and jailed in the Ezeiza Federal Prison Complex awaiting trial. In mid-2020 he was transferred to house arrest as the proceedings were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021,Báez was sentenced to 12 years in prison for money laundering. In June 2023,a separate case looking into possible wrongdoing by Cristina Kirchner was dismissed after the prosecution failed to produce evidence.

Juan Carlos Bacileff Ivanoff is an Argentine politician who served as interim governor of Chaco Province from 2013 to 2015. He was vice governor of Chaco from 2007 to 2015,serving under Jorge Capitanich;upon Capitanich's appointment as Cabinet Chief of Argentina in November 2013,Bacileff Ivanoff stepped in as governor in interim position until Capitanich's dismissal in February 2015.

Alicia Terada is an Argentine politician who served as a National Deputy elected in Chaco Province. A member of the Civic Coalition ARI,Terada was first elected in 2009,serving a four-year term until 2013. Despite running for re-election in 2013,she only took office in 2014 in replacement of Miguel Ángel Tejedor. She sat in the Juntos por el Cambio parliamentary inter-bloc from 2019 to 2021.
Aldo Adolfo Leiva is an Argentine politician and Falklands War veteran,currently serving as National Deputy elected in Chaco Province. A member of the Justicialist Party,Leiva was elected in 2019,and currently sits in the Frente de Todos parliamentary bloc. He previously served as intendente (mayor) of General Joséde San Martín,Chaco on two occasions,from 2009 to 2019,and from 2003 to 2008.
Elda Aída Pértile is an Argentine politician. Pértile has been active in politics since the 1980s;as a member of the local Acción Chaqueña party,she was elected intendenta (mayor) of Resistencia,Chaco in 1991,serving until 1995. She was also a member of the Resistencia City Council,and served in the Chamber of Deputies of Chaco during two consecutive terms from 2009 to 2017. From 2017 to 2021,she served as a National Deputy.

On 2 June 2023,Cecilia Marlene Strzyzowski,a 28-year-old Argentinian woman,went missing in Resistencia,Chaco. She was allegedly murdered in an act of femicide. Among the main suspects and defendants are her partner,César Sena,along with his parents Emerenciano Sena and Marcela Acuña who were candidates in the 2023 provincial elections in Chaco Province. Sena and Acuña who make up the "Sena Clan",a family of social leaders who have great local political influence as well as strong ties with the Government of Chaco Province,including the current governor Jorge Capitanich. This case has attracted attention at the provincial and national level and has been reported in the main international media.
