Leporinus enyae is a species of Leporinus fish discovered 2017 in the Orinoco River drainage area. It is named after the Irish singer Enya, whose major music hit "Orinoco Flow" deals with the Orinoco River, among others. [2] [1] [3]

This species is found in the middle and lower Amazon River basin, Nanay River, upper Orinoco River basin in Brazil, Peru, Venezuela and possibly in Suriname.

Enneanectes boehlkei, known commonly as the roughhead triplefin, is a species of triplefin blenny. This species occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean from the Bahamas west into the Gulf of Mexico, including the Florida Keys to Tuxpan, Mexico and throughout the Caribbean, it is absent from most of Cuba except the north west, and off the northern South American coast its range extends from Cartagena, Colombia to the Orinoco River in Venezuela. The specific name honours the American ichthyologist James Erwin Böhlke (1930-1982) of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia.
Parapteronotus hasemani, the duckbill knifefish, is a species of ghost knifefish found in main river channels and along the margins in the Amazon basin of Brazil and Peru. It is the only member of its genus. This dark-colored knifefish reaches up to about 38 cm (15 in) in total length.
Renova oscari is a species of killifish from the family Rivulidae which is endemic to the Orinoco River basin of Venezuela. This annual killifish grows to a standard length of 4.7 cm (1.9 in). This species is the only known member of its genus. It is found in the aquarium trade. This species was described in 1995 by Jamie E. Thomerson and Donald Charles Taphorn Baechle with the type locality given as the southwestern edge of Isla Raton in the vicinity of the village of Sabanita, upper Río Orinoco. The specific name honours Oscar León Mata (1964-2018), a killifish collector, environmental engineer and curator of fish at Museo de Ciencias Naturales in Guanare.

Caquetaia kraussii is a species of fish endemic to the basin of the Atrato, Cauca, Magdalena, as well as the basin of Lake Maracaibo. The fish has been introduced to the Orinoco River basin. The specific name honours the German naturalist Christian F. F. Krauss (1812-1890) who was director of the Royal Natural History Cabinet in Stuttgart.
Biotodoma wavrini, is a species of cichlid in the tribe Geophagini, part of the American cichlid subfamily Cichlinae. It is found in the middle and upper Rio Negro drainage in Brazil and Venezuela, and in the Orinoco River basin in Colombia and Venezuela. Its specific name honours the Belgian aristocrat, ethnologist and explorer Marquis Robert de Wavrin de Villers-au-Tertre (1888–1971), who collected the type specimen in 1935. B. wavrini is around 10 cm in length. The Orinoco eartheater poses no threats to humans.
