Lester Benjamin (born 14 September 1963) is an Antiguan and Barbudan retired long jumper. [1]

Benjamin competed at the 1983 World Championships, the 1984 Olympic Games and the 1987 World Championships, but did not reach the final round. He finished fourth in the long jump at the 1983 and 1987 Pan American Games.

His personal best jump was 8.02 metres, achieved in May 1984 in Baton Rouge. This is the national record. [2]

The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The top twelve and ties, and all those reaching 16.60 metres advanced to the final. The event was won by Al Joyner of the United States, the nation's first title in the men's long jump since 1904 and fourth overall. Mike Conley Sr., also an American, took silver. Keith Connor's bronze was Great Britain's first medal in the event since 1908. The Soviet boycott broke that nation's four-Games gold medal and eight-Games podium streaks.

The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Carl Lewis of the United States, the nation's 17th gold medal in the event. It was Lewis's second gold of the Games as he tried (successfully) to match Jesse Owens's 1936 quadruple. It was also the first of Lewis's four consecutive gold medals in the long jump. Howard Andrew Lindsay is an Antiguan and Barbudan Runner. He competed as a 4 x 400 metres runner at the 1984, 1988 and 1996 Olympic Games. He also competed in the 4 x 100 metres relay and 200 metres at the 1988 Olympics. His personal best is 45.7 seconds for the 400 metres. He currently coaches middle school athletes at United Nations International School (UNIS) in Manhattan, New York, and he runs in masters competitions such as the World Masters Athletics Championships.

Jennifer Innis is a Guyanese and American former sprinter and long jumper. Innis represented Guyana at the 1979 Pan American Games. She competed in the women's 100 metres and long jump at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Innis was a finalist in the 1983 World Championships long jump, finishing eleventh. For thirty years, she held the Guyanese women's national record for 100 meters at 11.26 seconds until it was surpassed by Brenessa Thompson in 2017 with a time of 11.14 seconds.
