The Berkeley-Haas Entrepreneurship Program is a program and the primary locus for the study and promotion of entrepreneurship and new enterprise development at the University of California Berkeley. The offices are located in the Faculty Building of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. [1]

History

The Berkeley-Haas Entrepreneurship Program was founded in 1991 through a gift from the late W. Howard Lester, chairman of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. [2]

Speaker series

The Berkeley-Haas Entrepreneurship Program sponsors three speaker series, two of which are open to members of the community as well as students, faculty and staff: [3]

Notable alumni

John Hanke , MBA '96 – Hanke founded Keyhole, Inc., which eventually became Google Earth. [4]
Peter Vlastelica and Jack Kloster, both MBA '06- Vlastelica and Kloster founded Yardbarker, which aims to be the main social website for sports fans, players and others. [4]
Danae Ringelmann and Eric Schell, both MBA '08- The two, along with Slava Rubin, founded Indiegogo, a crowdfunding platform for all creative, cause, and entrepreneurial projects. [4] [5]
Brett Wilson and John Hughes, MBA '07 – The two entrepreneurs founded TubeMogul, [6] a programmatic advertising platform for video advertising, and won the 2007 Bplan competition. [4] The company went public on the NASDAQ (TUBE) [7] in 2014 and was acquired by Adobe in 2017 for $540 million. [8]

Nat Goldhaber American businessman and politician

Amos Nathaniel "Nat" Goldhaber is an American venture capitalist, computer entrepreneur and politician. Goldhaber helped found Maharishi University of Management and was special assistant to lieutenant governor William Scranton III and founder and chief executive of TOPS, a computer networking company. He served as president of the venture capital firm Cole Gilburne Goldhaber & Ariyoshi Management and was the founding CEO of an Internet marketing company that became a public stock offering in 1999. He was the 2000 U.S. Vice President candidate for the Natural Law Party and serves as the managing director of the investment firm Claremont Creek Ventures.

The School of Social Welfare of the University of California, Berkeley, was established June 1, 1944 and is located in Haviland Hall on the UC Berkeley campus. Its focus is preparing social work professionals for the public and nonprofit sectors. Berkeley Social Welfare offers an Undergraduate Major in Social Welfare with the College of Letters and Science (L&S), the M.S.W., and the Ph.D. Haviland Hall includes its own library, founded in 1957, which contains approximately 34,400 volumes and 200 active serial titles. Berkeley SkyDeck (SkyDeck) is a startup accelerator and incubator program at the University of California, Berkeley serving as a joint venture among the Haas School of Business, Berkeley Engineering, and the administration. Founded in 2012, SkyDeck promotes student entrepreneurship in the Silicon Valley.
