The Liber Seregni Front (Spanish : Frente Liber Seregni) was the name of the centre-left faction inside the Frente Amplio which was created by Danilo Astori leader of Uruguay Assembly, Rafael Michelini leader of New Space and Rodolfo Nin Novoa, leader of Progressive Alliance, in August 2009, before the election. The group takes its name from Liber Seregni, founder of the Frente Amplio.

In this election the FLS obtained five seats in the Senate taken by Ramón Fonticiella, Rafael Michelini, Rodolfo Nin Novoa, Carlos Baráibar and Susana Dalmás.

Rafael Michelini Delle Piane is a Uruguayan politician. He is currently Senator of the Republic of Uruguay as a member of the Frente Amplio party, and was the founder of New Space party. He was the seventh of ten children, and is the son of Zelmar Michelini, a former senator who was assassinated in Buenos Aires during Operation Condor. As a result, he has been active in human rights issues, primarily those stemming from the dictatorship.

Alba Roballo was a Uruguayan lawyer, poet, and politician, who served three consecutive terms from 1958 to 1971 in the Senate of Uruguay and a fourth term in the early 1990s. After graduating with a law degree from the Universidad de la República in Montevideo, she began to write. In 1942, her first book, Se levanta el sol, won first prize from the Ministry of Education. Later she founded two journals, Mujer Batllista and El Pregón. In 1954 she became the first woman to sit on the Montevideo Departmental Council and was elected Senator for the Colorado Party. A prominent Afro-Uruguayan, she was the first woman in South America to serve as a cabinet minister, appointed in 1968; she resigned this post following authoritarian actions by the government. She was a founder of the Frente Amplio in 1971 and though she ran for re-election, that year she was defeated.

Novoa or Nóvoa is a Galician surname that later became widespread in the Spanish-speaking world. It is a toponymic surname referring to the former juridical district of Terra de Nóvoa, in the Ourense province, Galicia. The Spanish variation of the surname is Noboa.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bertha Sanseverino</span> Uruguayan politician

Bertha Elba Sanseverino Mansilla was a Uruguayan politician and member of the Broad Front since 1971 and the Liber Seregni Front faction of the Uruguay Assembly, a social democratic political party. Sanseverino served as a member of the Departmental Board of Montevideo, the legislative body of Montevideo Department, for two terms from 1995 until 2004. In 2010, she was elected to the national Chamber of Representatives of Uruguay, where she served until her death in office in June 2018.
