The Ligi Ndogo Grounds are a series of football pitches in Nairobi, Kenya. The dimensions of the main pitch stand at 100 m × 68 m (109 yd × 74 yd).

History

Formerly called the Unga Grounds, the grounds have been the home Ligi Ndogo since 2002 and its professional team since 2005. Situated on a 4-acre plot, the grounds hosted the first Ligi Ndogo Academy season in January 2002, and as such is also home to its youth squads. The team's club house also stands at the grounds.

The Planets' first ever match was played on 13 June 2005 against Kariobangi Sharks, before proceeding to Manchester, England for the Umbro International Cup. The Sharks beat the Planets 5–0. Their first ever Nationwide League match was played against Kuwinda in 2006, in which the Planets won 7–1.

Other events

The ground has been home to the annual Ligi Ndogo East Africa Tournament that includes teams from all East African countries. In 2008 it briefly hosted the Ligi Ndogo Inter-centre tournament.

Ligi Ndogo is located along Ngong Road. It is 6.4 kilometres (4.0 mi) from Nairobi's central business district.

The Åråsen Stadion, officially written Åråsen stadion, is an all-seater football stadium located in Lillestrøm, a city east of Oslo in Skedsmo, Norway. With a capacity of 11,500 spectators, the venue is the home of the 1.divisjon side Lillestrøm SK (LSK). The stadium has four stands, of which the West Stand has luxury boxes and club seating for 700. Because of the stadium's proximity to Kjeller Airport, it has retractable floodlights. The record attendance of 13,652 dates from 2002. RFUEA Ground Rugby union stadium in Kenya

The RFUEA Ground is a rugby union stadium located on the Ngong Road in Nairobi, Kenya. It was purpose built to be the home of the national team and to serve as the headquarters of the Rugby Football Union of Kenya (RFUK). Coincidentally, the RFUEA ground has another parallel with Twickenham Stadium in the United Kingdom in that it also serves as the home ground for the Kenya Harlequin Football Club, just as their sister club the London Harlequins once played at Twickenham.

Bamburi Rugby Super Series

The Bamburi Super Series was an East African Rugby union competition with eight teams in total, five teams from Kenya two from Uganda and one from Tanzania (Twigas) that is currently defunct. It is closely based on the Super Rugby competition in the southern hemisphere. Games take place at the RFUEA Ground in Nairobi (Kenya), Friedkin Recreation Centre in Arusha (Tanzania) and the Kyadondo Grounds, Kampala (Uganda). Rhinos have won the most titles with four wins, and are the only team to have defended a title when they beat the Cheetahs 25-5 in the 2010 final.

Ligi Ndogo Soccer Club is a football club and youth academy based in Nairobi, Kenya. The senior team currently competes in the National Super League, the second tier of the Kenyan football league system. The club's name is Swahili for "little league".

Michael Kamure

The 2013 season is Ligi Ndogo Sports Club's second year in the FKF Division One and their third consecutive season in the second tier of the Kenyan football league system.

The 2012 season was Ligi Ndogo Sports Club's first season in FKF Division One, and their second season in the second tier of the Kenyan football league system. The team finished the season with an overall record of 15 wins, 7 losses and 15 draws.

The 2014 season is Ligi Ndogo Sports Club's first year in the Kenyan National Super League and their fourth consecutive season in the second tier of the Kenyan football league system.

The 2014 FKF President's Cup was the 43rd season of Kenya's top domestic cup competition. It began on 26 April and ended on 15 November, with the domestic broadcasting rights for the competition held by SuperSport. Participating teams were required to pay a registration fee of Ksh. 30,000 each to enter the tournament. The competition's defending champions were A.F.C. Leopards, who beat their Nairobi derby rivals Gor Mahia 1–0 in the previous final. Both teams were given byes to the third round, having reached the final the previous year.

The Ligi Ndogo Soccer Club Academy, commonly known as simply Ligi Ndogo, is the youth team of Ligi Ndogo Sports Club, and acts as a feeder program for the senior team. The current academy director and under-17 head coach is Ibrahim Mbikalo.
