Linda Andrews (born 19 October 1973) is a Faroese singer who won the second season of the Danish version of The X Factor , [1] and became the first Faroese winner of it.
She was born and raised in Tórshavn. She lived for many years with her father (a taxi driver) and mother in the western part of Torshavn called Vesturbýurin. She attended a Pentecostal church called Filadelfia until early adulthood. She was very active in youth work and in the choirs. During the early 1990s she became a known singer because of her appearance as one of the lead singers in Filadelfia. She also was in the Filadelfia Youth Choir and the Filadelfia Choir. She also sang with Vanja Carlsen (of the Carlsens) and was seen as a rival to the singer scene domination in the Filadelfia church. Later on in life she went Frydensberg and then after that she went to live abroad. She has a daughter, with whom she lives in Valby. Her daughter got her to join X Factor, and she eventually auditioned in Copenhagen. Andrews had recently divorced her husband of seven years, and she wanted to prove to her daughter that she could stand on her own feet. She comes from a large family in the Faroe Islands and has 4 older siblings. Prior to her rise to fame on X Factor, Andrews made her solo album debut in 2008 with Revelation, a gospel album, and prior to that, she released recordings such as "Hot Santa," a Christmas-themed novelty single from 2006. Throughout the series, she was mentored by Lina Rafn of Infernal. In the final, she sang "So What" by Pink and a new song written by Søren Rasted of Aqua and Hej Matematik.
After winning the X Factor, she was offered a major-label recording contract with Sony Music. Andrews made her major-label début with "Det Bedste Til Sidst" written by Søren Rasted of the Danish pop band Aqua. The song was released in April 2009, just after Andrews had debuted the song on the season finale of X Factor (along with "So What" by P!nk). A couple months after releasing "Det Bedste Til Sidst," Andrews made her full-length album début with Into the Light (2009), primarily in English. It peaked at number two on the Danish albums chart and had two singles "Into the Light" and "Mirror Mirror". [2] In 2013, she provided backing vocals for Hannah Mancini who represented Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song, "Straight into Love". In 2017, she was one of the backing vocalists for Anja Nissen who represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song, "Where I Am". In 2018, she made another return to the contest, this time as a member of the Danish jury.
Faroese music is primarily vocal, accompanied by the fiddle and European dances like the minuet and polka. During the twentieth century choirs have played an important role in the musical history of the Faroes, and some of the best known current choirs are Tarira, Havnarkórið, Tórshavnar Manskór, Ljómur, Fuglafjarðar Gentukór, and the choirs situated in Copenhagen: Húsakórið and Mpiri.

"Back to the 80s" was Aqua's first single in eight years, following the release of the 2001 single "We Belong to the Sea". "Back to the 80s" was released on 25 May 2009 as the lead single from Greatest Hits and topped the Danish Singles Chart for six weeks.

Marianne Clausen was a Danish musicologist and choir conductor. She was the daughter of composer, choir conductor and musicologist Karl Clausen (1904–1972). Her main achievement, begun in collaboration with her father in the early 1970s, intensified during the 1990s, and concluded just weeks before her death, was the preservation of traditional Faroese folk singing, which she presented in a number of large volumes with music notation transcriptions of sound recordings. Based on more than 6,000 such recordings, collected by many different scholars, including herself, throughout the entire 20th century, she published around 3,350 music notation examples of various genres of traditional Faroese singing, together with hitherto unpublished song texts, as well as historical and musicological analyses.
Kristel Lisberg, is a Faroese-Danish singer, songwriter and optometrist. She currently lives in Denmark where she rose to fame after participating in the Danish version of X Factor. In 2014 she released the single "Without You", and in 2015 the follow-up single "September". She participated in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2016, the Danish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Who Needs a Heart?".
X Factor is a Danish television music competition to find new singing talent. Sofie Linde Lauridsen returned to host the show for the 3rd time. Thomas Blachman and Remee returned for their respective tenth and eight series as judges and were joined by a new judge Sanne Salomonsen who replaced Mette Lindberg. This season mark the end of X Factor Denmark on DR, followed an announcement made by DR on August 16. On December 21, 2017, TV2 announced the show would be continued the 12th series would be broadcast by them. Place on Earth won the competition and became the 3rd group to win the competition and Thomas Blachman became the winning mentor for the second time.
Elin Brimheim Heinesen is a Faroese journalist, editor, singer, songwriter and composer. She is a Master of Arts in Art History, studied at Aarhus University 1984-1986 and 1989-1991. After living in Denmark for over 20 years, she moved back to the Faroe Islands in 2007, where she became Director of Samvit, a public institution under the Faroese governance, which was responsible for tourism and export of Faroese goods, she was the director of Samvit until the council was closed in 2009. While living in Denmark, she worked as director, project manager, editor, and self-employed with her own company. From September 2009 to May 2012 she was employed as media and development manager at Kringvarp Føroya. Since May 2012 she was self-employed, and for a while she was a journalist at the portal portal.fo after being sold to Knassar. She also participates actively in the community debate on the Faroe Islands and was an active debater in connection with Sea Shepherd's Action Against Whaling, Operation GrindStop 2014. In February 2014 she was elected to the board of the new Faroese film association Føroysk Filmsfólk.
