Lindean railway station served the village of Lindean, Scottish Borders, Scotland, from 1856 to 1964 on the Selkirk and Galashiels Railway.
The station was opened on 5 April 1856 by the Selkirk and Galashiels Railway. To the west was Lindean Mill and to the east were two sidings. The level crossing was controlled by a ground frame. A few yards away from the platform was the stationmaster's house and behind the platform was a railway cottage. The station closed to passengers on 10 September 1951 [1] but remained open for goods traffic. It was downgraded to an unstaffed public delivery siding on 13 September 1954. The platform was reduced to a mound and was demolished in 1961. The station closed to goods on 23 May 1964. [2]
The Peebles Railway was a railway company that built a line connecting the town of Peebles in Peeblesshire, Scotland, with Edinburgh. It opened on 4 July 1855, and it worked its own trains.
The Selkirk and Galashiels Railway was a railway company that built a branch line connecting Selkirk, Scottish Borders, with the mainline network at Galashiels. The 5-mile (8.0 km) line opened in 1856 and was well used in the period down to 1914. Road transport from about 1923 became a serious competitor and the usage of the line declined steeply. Economy measures did little to retrieve the situation and the passenger service was withdrawn in 1951. Goods traffic continued for a period, but in 1964 that too was withdrawn. There is no railway use of the line now.
Bowland railway station was a railway station in the village of Bowland, near Galashiels, Scotland. Located on the now closed Waverley Route, it was opened to passengers on 4 August 1848, closing to passengers on 7 December 1953 and finally to goods services on 23 March 1964. The line itself was closed and lifted in 1969, although the section of it which Bowland was on re-opened in 2015.
