Lisa Hespe SC is an Australian jurist who has served as a Justice of the Federal Court of Australia since 27 April 2022. [1] [2] Hespe replaced Justice Paul Anastassiou. Hespe completed her secondary education at Leibler Yavneh College. [3] She then completed a Bachelor of Economics in 1991 and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 1994 at Monash University. She earned a Master of Laws from Melbourne Law School in 2022. Hespe commenced her legal career practising as a lawyer with law firm King & Wood Mallesons, where she specialised in taxation and mergers and acquisitions. She is a lecturer at the University of Melbourne, where she teaches tax litigation [4] and has spent time as a Senior Member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Hespe identifies as Jewish. [3]
Catherine Ena "Cate" Holmes is a retired Australian jurist who served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland, the highest ranking court in the Australian state of Queensland. She was appointed to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2000, to the Queensland Court of Appeal in 2006 and appointed chief justice on 11 September 2015. She retired on 19 March 2022.

The Federal Court of Australia is an Australian superior court of record which has jurisdiction to deal with most civil disputes governed by federal law, along with some summary and indictable criminal matters. Cases are heard at first instance by single judges. The court includes an appeal division referred to as the Full Court comprising three judges, the only avenue of appeal from which lies to the High Court of Australia. In the Australian court hierarchy, the Federal Court occupies a position equivalent to the supreme courts of each of the states and territories. Elizabeth Raper is a Justice of the Federal Court of Australia. She has served as Justice since 1 April 2022. Raper was appointed by then Attorney-General Michaelia Cash to the Sydney Registry of the Federal Court following the retirement of Justice Geoffrey Flick. Raper attended the University of Sydney, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1996 and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours in 1998. Her legal career began at the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, where she served as an Associate to Justice Paul Munro. She later worked as a lawyer in private practice at Baker and McKenzie. Raper also worked in academia at the University of Sydney and co-authored a text on discrimination law.
