As of 2016, the country had over 857 channels of which 184 were pay channels. The Hindi, Tamil and Telugu language television industries are by far the largest television industries in India.
Tata Play is an Indian direct broadcast satellite (DTH) service provider using MPEG-4 digital compression technology, transmitting using INSAT-4A and GSAT-10 satellite. Incorporated in 2005, Tata Play is a joint venture between the Tata Sons and The Walt Disney Company with Temasek Holdings as a minor partner. It currently offers a total of 601 channels, 495 SD channels and 99 HD channels and services, along with many other value added services. As of March 2020, according to TRAI Tata Play serves 22 million subscribers which is 33.37% of total DTH users in India. Tata Play is the largest DTH service provider in India.
Sun Direct is an Indian direct broadcast satellite service provider. Sun Direct was launched in December 2007. It transmits digital satellite television and audio to households in India. Sun Direct uses MPEG-4 digital compression, transmitting HD Channels on GSAT-15 at 93.5°E and SD Channels on MEASAT-3 at 91.5°E. Sun Direct currently offers total 465 channels and services, along with many other active services. It is the first and No.1 service provider to launch HD Counterpart.
Chutti TV is a 24-hour Tamil cartoon television channel from the Sun TV Network in India. The target audience are children aged between 3 and 17. It was launched on 29 April 2007, making it Sun TV Network's first ever television channel for kids.

d2h (Formerly Videocon d2h) is an Indian direct broadcast satellite service provider owned by Dish TV. As of December 31, 2017, d2h has a market share of 19% among the pay DTH operators. Dish TV India and d2h merger has been concluded, which had created the largest DTH service provider in the country with a subscriber base of about 29 million at the time of merger.

Eurosport India is an Indian sports channel owned by Discovery India. Launched as DSport in February 2017 with a partnership between Discovery India and Lex Sportel. In January 2020, Lex Sportel parted ways with Discovery, taking their event rights from and created their own channel 1Sports. On 17 March 2020, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting permitted Discovery to rebrand the channel to Eurosport.
