Accept are a German heavy metal band from Solingen. Formed in 1976, the group originally featured lead guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, bassist Peter Baltes, lead vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, drummer Frank Friedrich and rhythm guitarist Gerhard Wahl. The band's current lineup includes Hoffmann, lead vocalist Mark Tornillo (since 2009), rhythm guitarist Uwe Lulis, drummer Christopher Williams (both since 2015), bassist Martin Motnik and rhythm guitarist Philip Shouse (both since 2019).
Accept evolved from an earlier group called Band X, with the first lineup including Wolf Hoffmann, Peter Baltes, Udo Dirkschneider, Frank Friedrich and Gerhard Wahl. [1] Wahl was replaced by Jörg Fischer in 1978. [2] After the recording of the group's self-titled debut album, Friedrich left Accept and was replaced by Stefan Kaufmann. [2] Fischer left suddenly after a tour in 1982. [2] He was replaced briefly by Jan Koemmet, [3] followed by Herman Frank shortly before the release of Restless and Wild . [4] Fischer returned to replace Frank shortly after the release of Balls to the Wall . [2]
In 1987, Dirkschneider was fired from Accept and subsequently pursued a solo career under the moniker U.D.O. [5] He was replaced by a succession of temporary vocalists, before the band settled on David Reece and released Eat the Heat in 1989. [6] Fischer left again before the recording of the album. [2] Jim Stacey joined on rhythm guitar for the album's promotional tour, which also saw Ken Mary take over from Kaufmann after the regular drummer suffered a back injury. [2] Accept subsequently decided to disband, after increasing differences with Reece and Kaufmann's injury. [2] By 1992, the band had returned with a lineup of Dirkschneider, Hoffmann, Baltes and Kaufmann, releasing Objection Overruled the next year. [7] Kaufmann was forced to leave again after the release of Death Row , with Stefan Schwarzmann taking his place. [8]
After the Death Row touring cycle, Schwarzmann was replaced by Michael Cartellone, who performed on 1996's Predator . [9] The group disbanded for a second time in 1997. [2] In 2005, Accept returned for a short run of shows in Europe and Japan, with Dirkschneider, Hoffmann and Baltes joined by Frank and Schwarzmann. [10] The tour ended in August, after which Hoffmann claimed that Dirkschneider was preventing a longer reunion for the band. [11] Members returned to other projects until 2009, when a new lineup of Accept was unveiled with vocalist Mark Tornillo in place of Dirkschneider. [12] The group's lineup remained stable until 2014, when Frank and Schwarzmann were fired. [13] Their places were taken in April 2015 by Uwe Lulis and Christopher Williams, respectively. [14] Baltes quit the band in November 2018. [15]
For tour dates in early 2019, Baltes was replaced by Danny Silvestri, who had previously played with the group in 2017. [16] In April, the band brought in Martin Motnik as their new full-time bassist. [17] On 1 November, the band announced that Philip Shouse, previously a touring member, had joined them as their third guitarist, thus making them a sextet. [18]

Accept is a German heavy metal band from Solingen, formed in 1976 by guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, singer Udo Dirkschneider and bassist Peter Baltes. Their beginnings can be traced back to the late 1960s, when the band got its start under the name Band X. Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Accept has undergone numerous lineup changes; Hoffmann is the last remaining original member, and the only band member to appear on each album. As of 2024, the band has released seventeen studio albums, five live albums and nine compilation albums.
U.D.O. is a German heavy metal band founded by lead vocalist Udo Dirkschneider in 1987.
Accept is the debut studio album released by German heavy metal band Accept. It was recorded in 1978 and released in early 1979 on the West German label Brain Records. Drums on the record are played by Frank Friedrich, but he chose not to pursue a professional music career and so his place was taken by Stefan Kaufmann just prior to the album's release. Bassist Peter Baltes performs lead vocals on "Seawinds" and "Sounds of War".
Peter Baltes is a German musician, best known as former bassist of Heavy metal band Accept and as current bassist of U.D.O.
I'm a Rebel is the second studio album by German heavy metal band Accept, recorded in 1979 and released in 1980. It was the first of three consecutive Accept records to utilize Dirk Steffens as producer. The album finds Accept continuing to search for their musical direction, experimenting with a more commercial sound than on their debut. Bassist Peter Baltes once again sings lead vocals on two tracks, the slower-paced songs "No Time to Lose" and "The King".
Restless and Wild is the fourth studio album by German heavy metal band Accept, released in 1982 in Continental Europe and in 1983 in the US and UK. It was the first Accept album not to be recorded at Delta-Studio, since the band had moved to Dieter Dierks' studio in Stommeln. It is also the first Accept album in which Udo Dirkschneider sings every track, as well as the first in which manager Gaby Hauke ("Deaffy") gains credits for songwriting. Michael Wagener, once again, handled recording and mixing duties here.
Eat the Heat is the eighth studio album by German heavy metal band Accept, released in 1989. It was recorded at Dierks Studios in Cologne from September 1988 to January 1989. Although Jim Stacey is presented as rhythm guitar player in the album line-up, the album credits also state that all guitar work on the album was played by Wolf Hoffmann. Stacey did perform second guitar live with the band. Until 2010's Blood of the Nations, this was Accept's only album without Udo Dirkschneider as lead vocalist. U.D.O. contributes with crowd vocals on "Turn the Wheel". U.D.O. has also covered the song "X-T-C" on the 2001 compilation A Tribute to Accept II. Accept later recorded "Generation Clash II" based on "Generation Clash" with Udo Dirkschneider on vocals for their 1994 album Death Row. U.D.O. will still regularly perform tracks from this album, including "X-T-C".
Death Row is the tenth studio album by German heavy metal band Accept, released in 1994. It was recorded at Roxx Studios in Pulheim, Germany.
Timebomb is the fourth studio album by German heavy metal band U.D.O. It was recorded and mixed at Dierks Studios in Cologne from November 1990 to February 1991. The album is considered the band's heaviest following a light approach on Faceless World.
The discography of Accept, a German heavy metal band, consists of 16 studio albums, five live albums, nine compilations, 25 singles, four video albums and 11 music videos. Formed in Solingen in 1976, Accept originally consisted of lead vocalist Udo Dirkschneider, lead guitarist Wolf Hoffmann, rhythm guitarist Gerard Wahl, bassist Peter Baltes and drummer Frank Friedrich. The band signed to Brain Records and released their self-titled debut album in 1979, which failed to chart. After Friedrich was replaced by Stefan Kaufmann, I'm a Rebel, Breaker and Restless and Wild followed over the next three years, the last of which gave Accept their debut on the UK Albums Chart when it reached number 98.
"I'm a Rebel" is a hard rock song written by Scottish musician Alex Young, that has been recorded and released by Accept and U.D.O.
Blood of the Nations is the twelfth studio album by German heavy metal band Accept. It is the band's first studio recording since 1996's Predator and the first album to feature vocalist Mark Tornillo and drummer Stefan Schwarzmann. It is the first Accept album without Udo Dirkschneider on vocals since Eat the Heat (1989), and the band's first album to feature guitarist Herman Frank since Balls to the Wall (1983).
The Collection is a compilation album by German heavy metal band Accept, released in 1991. The songs on the album were pulled from Accept's albums Accept, I'm a Rebel, Breaker, Restless and Wild, Balls to the Wall, Metal Heart, and Russian Roulette. It omits anything from Eat the Heat, which was released two years before this compilation album.
Restless: The Best is a compilation album by German heavy metal band Accept, released in 1982. The songs are from 1980's I'm a Rebel, 1981's Breaker and 1982's Restless and Wild.
"Burning" is a song by German heavy metal band Accept, from their album Breaker, released in 1981. Written and composed by Wolf Hoffmann, Peter Baltes, Jörg Fischer, Stefan Kaufmann and Udo Dirkschneider, it was also released as a single with "Down and Out" as the B-side. Two other songs on the Breaker album were also released as singles in 1981.
The Rise of Chaos is the 15th studio album by German heavy metal band Accept, released on 4 August 2017. This is the first Accept album with guitarist Uwe Lulis and drummer Christopher Williams, replacing Herman Frank and Stefan Schwarzmann, respectively. It is also their final studio album to feature bassist Peter Baltes, who left Accept in November 2018. Like their previous three studio albums, The Rise of Chaos was produced by Andy Sneap, making it the band's fourth collaboration with him. Guitarist Wolf Hoffmann has stated that the album's title refers to the human-caused chaos in the world.
Steelfactory is the sixteenth studio album by U.D.O., released on 31 August 2018 by AFM Records. It is the first album to feature Udo Dirkschneider's son Sven as the new drummer. The first single "Rising High" was made available for streaming on 15 June 2018. A music video was made for "One Heart One Soul". A lyric video was made for "Make the Move". Steelfactory is the final album to feature bassist Fitty Wienhold when he announced his departure in September 2018.
The discography of U.D.O., a German heavy metal band, consists of 18 studio albums, six live albums, three compilations, 17 singles, six video albums and 19 music videos. Formed in 1987 by eponymous vocalist Udo Dirkschneider following his departure from Accept, the group originally included guitarists Mathias Dieth and Peter Szigeti, bassist Frank Rittel and drummer Thomas Franke. Shortly after the release and promotion of their debut album Animal House, Dirkschneider dismissed all band members except Dieth, and rebuilt the group with guitarist Andy Susemihl, bassist Thomas Smuszynski, and future Accept drummer Stefan Schwarzmann. Mean Machine, released in 1989, reached number 31 on the German Albums Chart. Susemihl was subsequently replaced by Wolla Böhm.
Too Mean to Die is the sixteenth studio album by German heavy metal band Accept, released on 29 January 2021. It is the first Accept album to feature Martin Motnik, who replaced original bassist Peter Baltes in 2019, and the only one to feature rhythm guitarist Philip Shouse, who joined the band that same year; as such, Too Mean to Die would be their only album to be recorded as a six-piece band as opposed to a five-piece. As the band had signed to Napalm Records in February 2022, this is their last album to be released on Nuclear Blast.
