The Royal Navy had a number of floating drydocks for the repair of warships where there was no fixed dry dock available. The docks did not receive a name and were known as "Admiralty Floating Dock" with a number. In size they went up to ones capable of lifting the largest Royal Navy battleships.

Amongst the passengers leaving Bermuda for England on Thursday will be Mr. T. H. Bentley, constructor of the Dockyard. Mr. Bentley has been at Bermuda Dockyard as head of the Construction Department since June 1931 and during that period has been responsible for a very large amount of work executed by his department especially during the extensive repairs on the Floating Dock, the almost re-construction of which became necessary to accommodate the docking of the larger ships of the "H.M.S. York" class.
