The Adult Contemporary chart is published weekly by Billboard magazine and lists the most popular songs on adult contemporary radio stations in the United States. The chart is compiled based on airplay data submitted to Billboard by stations that are members of the Adult Contemporary radio panel. The chart debuted in Billboard magazine on July 17, 1961. "Hello" is a song by Lionel Richie. Taken as the third single from his second solo album Can't Slow Down (1983), the song was released in 1984 and reached number one on three Billboard music charts: the pop chart, the R&B chart, and the adult contemporary chart. The song also went to number one in the UK Singles Chart for six weeks. The song later inspired a lawsuit by songwriter Marjorie Hoffman White, who accused Richie of plagiarizing her composition "I'm Not Ready to Go".
"Make No Mistake, He's Mine" is a song written by Kim Carnes and recorded as a duet by Barbra Streisand and Carnes in 1984 and subsequently by Ronnie Milsap and Kenny Rogers under the title of "Make No Mistake, She's Mine". Both versions charted.

It was Murray's ninth American number-one country hit, and it also hit the top ten on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. The song was Loggins' only hit on the country chart.
"Crazy in Love" is a song by songwriters Even Stevens and Randy McCormick; it was first recorded by Joe Cocker on his 1984 album Civilized Man. The song was covered by American artist Kim Carnes in 1988 and released as the second single from her album View from the House, it peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart and number 68 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
