The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award is an international children's literary award established by the Swedish government in 2002 to honour the Swedish children's author Astrid Lindgren (1907–2002). The prize is five million SEK, making it the richest award in children's literature and one of the richest literary prizes in the world. The annual cost of 10 million SEK is financed with tax money.

José Zabala-Santos, nicknamed as "Mang Pepe" by hometown neighbors and as "Zabala" by colleagues in the cartooning profession, was a successful cartoonist in the Philippines and was one of the pioneers of Philippine comics. He became one of the most popular cartoonists in the Philippines during the 1950s because of his cartoon characters such Popoy, Sianong Sano, and Lukas Malakas. Zabala is one of the "respected names" of artists in the Philippine cartoon and comics industry.
The Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) is a non-profit and non-stock organization in the Philippines that specializes in 2D and 3D animation. As an organization that is recognized and supported by the Government of the Philippines, and as a business engaged in information and communications technology, the goal of the ACPI is to promote the animation industry locally and globally. It aims to create an identity for the Philippines within the animation industry. It has the intention of making the Philippines as one of the preferred countries that provides animation services. It expresses high regard for locally produced animation with original content. It aims to reinvent and present the Philippines as a "center of excellence for animation and content creation services" not only to the Asian clientele but also to countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Japan.
Animahenasyon is an annual animation festival and competition held in the Philippines. Organized by the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI), the festival features the animated works of veteran and novice Filipino animators. Apart from the competition, the festival holds classes, seminars, workshops, and exhibits related to the animation profession. It has the aim of harvesting the talent and creativity of Filipino cartoonists and animators. It is considered as an annual celebration of the animation industry in the Philippines.
The 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), presented by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), was held from 25 December 2013 to the first week of January 2014. During the festival, no foreign films are shown in Philippine theaters in order to showcase locally produced films. For this year, eight film entries were chosen by the MMDA to be showcased in the festival. Contrary to previous years, the Enteng Kabisote, Panday, and Shake, Rattle & Roll films were not presented for this year's festival.
The Lambda Literary Award for Mystery is an annual literary award, presented by the Lambda Literary Foundation, to a mystery novel by or about people in the LGBT community. Prior to 2021, the award was separated into separate categories for Gay and Lesbian Mystery.
